Given Azon reportedly didn't want to come here initially 16:37 - Aug 17 with 4732 viewsCheltenham_Blue

I wonder if he pulled the plug, or if KMc didn't like the body language or something.
Or whether it was a straight forward, "You won't be first choice" that did it.

Long way to travel if you didn't intend to join at all.

Look at Broja.

If it is medical, which it appears to be and not all the opinions being bandied about.

The issue may or may not be overcome with quick, short treatment, or may need surgery, or a longer time, which may put the player out of action for long enough to make the loan unviable.

Not this window may mean if the issue is sorted by the parent club and the player makes sufficient recovery we may look again say in January or next year.

Try not to read to much into it.

Has to be a medical .. KM wouldn't have referred to 'respect to all parties' because talking about it can only really harm Como or Azon's ability to make another transfer work.

“The deal hasn’t progressed, so I won’t say anything other than that, really, out of respect to all parties. He’s not a player we expect to join the club in this window.”

Funny how there are now several people who claim to know he failed a medical and yet despite it happening at least 2 days ago, they all chose to wait until after KM’s cryptic response before sharing their inside info.

This won’t be the reason, you don’t do a deal for a kid, fly them over here and send them home, especially where we are in the market. Medical or he’s pulled out himself.

Do you have to pull out yourself in that sort of medical? I suppose it has to be thorough?

" some players may not find Ipswich an attractive place to relocate to, it could be as simple as that. Having only lived in his beautiful home city of Zaragoza, and more recently on the banks of Lake Como in Italy, I can assure you he wouldn’t have found a move to Ipswich very attractive"

I can see this, having only been in Zaragoza last week, that part of Spain is stunning compared to round here, respectfully.

He would have been in Ipswich to work, earn good money and further his career. He probably wasn't so bothered about the architecture, lack of squid sandwiches and being on a jolly with his mates.

Main reason I can't see it being a medical reason. If it is fair enough. It's just with all the media leaks about the link then the loan etc I find it hard to believe none of them knew about the medical failure and didn't report it.

a niche perspective

He was well known to have an injury at the end of last season.

He was out for most of February and March with a calf injury and when he came back from that injury, by the time he was able to play again he then sustained a knee injury that meant he missed the end of the season.

He hasn't played a competitive game since January and also has previous history with knee injuries that ruled him out for a lot of 2022-2023 so I think the medical may have turned up something. He does seem quite injury prone.

I would say what happened is that since Como would only accept an offer that involved a requirement to buy him if we got promoted, the club bailed out because of the level of risk. If it was an option to buy or a straight loan, it might have been a bit of a different story.

It was quite clearly a medical issue.

Whilst Zargoza is indeed a beautiful city it's sat right on the middle of the Meseta which is essentially a desert. I think I'd prefer some greenery.

We have signed Akpom, who isn't ready to play yet; we have signed Cajuste who has had no pre-season, is off the pace & has a knee issue that we know has to be managed; we have Al Hamadi who is currently injured, but was due to be sold/sent on loan in any event; we signed Philogene in January, who had gotten injured twice already in that time; and then we have Hirst as our starting centre forward, while Szmodics & Chaplin are #10s just back from long injuries post Christmas last season, with Ogbene & Burns having had season ending, career damaging injuries last season too.
Those are our attacking/creative options; I really don't think we could afford to bring in someone else, who is a medical concern, on a loan with obligation to buy contract.
