Cost of beer inside PR: I’m surprised I haven’t seen this mentioned yet… 23:31 - Aug 17 with 2015 viewsBlueastheycome

Which makes me think I dreamt the prices before this season

£7 for a large bottle of warm beer!

I’m sure it was £4.50 last season wasn’t it?!

And bl00dy Carlsberg as well.

A poured pint in the North lower was £6.50. However, none available before the game at the bar I went to. And then no lager available for the first 10mins of half time...

Dispenser fizzy drinks. £3.50. Used to be £2.50/£2.75 for a bottled version.

Also, the speedy beer pourers are considerably slower for service. You have to wait and to each one up to a full pint.

Wow...what kind of dodgy school did you go to? The milk would have been given free to the schools back in those days, so with inflation they were charging you 20p for a biscuit!

We had free. Milk from those little bottles in crates at Junior School and before. I used to be a ‘milk monitor’ too - to get me out of doing other stuff. Anything that took me out of lessons was good. Pre-secondary school I was a right old dosser.

Back to the milk, it was either rancid when it was warm or pushing its way through the cap when it was cold. And you were still made to drink it. That was the age where the grown ups didn’t tolerate wasted food (wartime generation, mostly).

I never minded milk and still don’t. Especially mixed with chemical powder like Nesquik - banana or chocolate. Even Ovaltine was ok, though hot chocolate was and still is a thing of beauty.

Now to the point in hand - beer. I think it was £6.50 last year which I felt was a lot. I get event pricing and that in London it isn’t cheap. But £7 for that now? Well it’s up to the individual but I think it’s over the top..

I do wish the club would take catering seriously. Up the quality, price it right, get the supply/delivery right (sufficient staff etc) and they’d make more money than with the current arrangement. The mouldering tent in the Fanzone gets through the customers pretty smart ish, but I still think they’re missing a trick.

Before Thatcher The Milk Snatcher took it away. And you still didn’t learn the lesson!

Anyway, I’d rather have a warm beer than warm milk with lumps in it.

I'm quite happy that it's gone up to £7.00. It's far more satisfying saving £7.00 than it is saving £4.50.

That progressed to the board rubber being launched at you then taking it back to the teacher, who would wallop you on the hand with it.😆

Ahh, the unerring accuracy of those big wooden board rubbers. You’d get het anywhere in the room from a flying one of those. Heavy off things. They were good with chalk too. I guess they have to ask the kids to behave nicely.

At junior school only the headmaster (a dirty old man who fancied my mother) could use the cane - usually for serious offences and of course fighting. The rest of them used anything they could hit you with from rulers to gym shoes to bits of wood.

I never enjoyed the captivity of school.

Went to a Catholic secondary school where the headmaster and deputy heads could use the cane; head used to "delegate" most of that to one deputy who used to terrify the pupils.

One of our schoolmates became a bit of a ledge when he was sent for the cane, because when the headmaster told him to bend over he said he replied "No sir, I'd rather have the cane"; was given extra lashes for that.
