Lost interest and are pocketing the money before they sell up and disappear into the night as so far this window has been underwhelming and it feels like our soul has been ripped out.

Where you here when an ageing Stephen Ward at LB was the standout signing? And that's with the greatest respect to Stephen Ward who had a good career.

That's a damp squib. Not this.

I can go further back than that. John Duncan era, Graham Harby era. I’ve seen it all for a long time,so I do know what bad looks like. Yes, we are in a much better place
than we were but Ashton hasn’t helped himself here by saying we need to be aggressive in our signings this summer. The fact we were virtually down in April, meant they had time to prepare, they even said as much. Yet here we are,one week to go seemingly exhausted all options and now looking at the equivalent of Stricly coming dancings C and D list celebrity guests.

Ffs.

This place is pretty depressing at the moment. I think I might give the forum a swerve for a bit if it stays this way much longer.

Yeah, agreed. It's getting VERY tedious with the sheer volume of over the top negative dross. So dull and repetitive.

But it would have if the player agreed to the move? Therefore, the owners were ok with paying £20m.

They gave up they follow day. It was the straw that broke the camels back. 'No Hackney, no party' they were quoted as saying as they put the club up for sale.

You don't think Cajuste, Matusiwa, Akpom, and Kipre are good signings? They are all, at the very least, top end Championship players and a couple of them should be able to step up to the Prem. If you feel that aren't good signings, who else has moved in this window that you think we should have signed instead?

I think they are all good signings at this level, but I think 3/4 of them being loans has made them feel more negative than they would have been if they were permanent. If we don’t go up, there will be another big squad turnover which ironically the club has said this summer has been more than expected… just doesn’t feel like we have spent anything considering the sales we have generated.

They are all loans who will stay if we go up, surely that's a better option than committing large sums to sign them up permanently? In Cajuste's case at least, I doubt he'd have been up for signing permanently now either. If they are good players then it's good business, imo. And bear in mind, we still have to pay for these players, both a loan fee and wages.

Whether we buy or loan, there will be a big turnover next summer if we don't get promoted. We're recruiting in preparation for a promotion season, with a view to keeping some squad stability on our return.

If we're not promoted, parachute money drops significantly, and we'll need to cut our cloth to match. That would involve selling players if everything was on a permanent. This way we have the best of both worlds - if we fail to go up, the squad is automatically adjusted and we backfill within a revised and reduced 26/27 budget. If we're promoted, we retain the loanees with an obligation to buy, and the ball is in our court as to which we hold onto for our next shot at the PL, and which we loan / sell.

The approach the club has taken is prudent and keeps us in control.

See,I think some people need to take the rose tinted glasses off. We aren’t going up. We haven’t recruited like a team going up. Ashtons comments about being aggressive in the transfer market has become a damp squib. It’s why people are wetting the bed (as the same b@ll sacks need to keep saying). It’s been an awaful transfer market so far this summer however you like to dress it up.

It was always going to be very hard, we have also been unlucky with injuries with CTs ACL, the Spanish lad falling through for unknown reasons.

We have recruited well with some top end champ players and hopefully 3 more upcoming. Not sure how we can come to the not going up conclusion after 2 games ?

The only Muff in Town.

Whilst I agree, loans also hold no sell on value which goes against (player trading) as what has been said needs to be our strategy with young players (Omari, Delap, Leif, Jaden, Clarke)

I should of said that my post in no way was meant to come across as a negative one and am fully behind the club but our summer transfer window has so far (all could change in the next week) has been different to previous windows by signing older players on loan.

The problem we have is that it just didn't work out last season and because of that a big rethink has been going on . In that are those we had through last season and some from further back good enough and the answer has clearly came back no.
But then when you also lose the likes of Hutchinson and Delap which were almost certain, to replace them at a lesser cost in a rising market is very difficult.
Given that the players we are targeting either do not want to leave their clubs, want Premier League football or would rather play abroad and added to that other clubs in the Championship also want them it makes it even harder to get them in.

I used to follow Town home and away in the Ferguson and Duncan era. After watching the Robson sides of the late 70s and early 80s, it was something to get used to, but we still got behind the teams and had a good laugh.

Move forward 40 odd years, we are a modern football club, owned by people who want nothing but success for our club, but will go about it in a thoughtful, business like way, not like a kid in a sweet shop. We are currently very lucky supporters in comparison to the old days (it was a different world back then). Some people would do well to sound more humble and sound less spoilt when they post.

I'll accept on face value that you're a Town fan and have been for many years - but jesus wept that is probably the worst take amongst hundreds of s**t takes this summer.

Let's the clear about one thing - there are probably only about a dozen employees in Ipswich's history that our part of our soul - Cobbolds, Pat Godbold, Ramsay, Robson, Crawford, Wark, Beattie, Mills, Butcher, Stockwell, Burley; and that's about it.

It's the thousands and thousands of Town fans across the globe - those fans (and I'm including you despite the ridiculousness of your original post) are our lifeblood, our DNA, our SOUL - whether that's a wet midweek night in Birmingham, getting up at 3am down under to watch the stream because you have to watch it in real time, or the 29,000+ who turned up at Portman Rd less than five days ago.

Love Morsy and sad to see him move on, but by the sounds of his contract offer he would have been mad to turn it down. How on earth did you cope when players like Wark, Butcher and Mills moved on when the Robson team was being dismantled??!!
