How much will Woolfie go for? 10:50 - Aug 22 with 2758 viewsmelbs_itfc

Of course it will be very sad to see Woolfie leave (if indeed he does end up going) but what will the fee be? My guess would be around 5-6 million even if that includes top-ups. What are everyone’s thoughts - higher or lower?

Any chance of a swap deal of some sort for Ben Sheaf if Coventry want Woolfy?

Given the 2 clubs that have been linked with him are Coventry and Watford, who arent exactly loaded with cash..

I would expect around 3-4M

Unless somebody else comes in who can blow them out of the water.

Cov have plenty. They've just signed a Villa academy rb for £4m when they still have Van Ewijk, they'll have no problem spending £8m if they need to.

Best CH in the Champ 2 seasons ago, and Town's best CH in the PL last season, you're looking at £10m-£12m

Are we selling Greaves? He was best centre half in the championship 2 seasons ago?

Or the best centre half for town last year, who was O'Shea?

Wolf to a team in control imo would go for £8-10 mill

But to a team who'll be under the cosh a lot, maybe £4 mill

His attributes for me all come from ball playing, his ariel figures aren't great, ground duels etc not amazing either, so I'd call it defending isn't his best ability, but playing football as a defender is.

He's very underrated as a defender. He's not a blood and thunder type who goes thumping into tackles but his reading of the game and positional play is excellent. He often doesn't need to make tackles because he's half a step ahead and has won the ball without the need to make a tackle. The home game against Leicester in 2023/24 was one of the best defensive displays from a player I've ever seen, he covered so much of the pitch on his own to enable us to condense space and push for an equaliser against a very good counter attacking team.

I'd guess around 8-10 million. That would hopefully make people feel a bit better about the McAteer fee

Just don't see it for a CB out of a team. £4-5 mil.

I expect nothing less than a world record fee. Anything less and the tears here will be unbearable.

Sorry but Woolfie was the best, that's why we won promotion and Hull didn't.

O'Shea had a good finish to the season but he was below average at best when he first joined us.

Woolfie has been a consistent high level performer for the last 2 seasons which is why lots of clubs are now after him.

The team needs a captain, and KM has decided that's O'Shea. But as normal with captains he will be selected even if his performance drops to below average again. Woolfie will know that and he will be limited to Cup games and if O'Shea is injured. He will also know if he plays brilliantly, if O'Shea was injured, he will be dropped immediately once O'Shea recovers as he's the captain.

I can't see a mid table or playoff challenging championship club paying much more than 6M for a CB.

Somewhere in the £5m - £8m bracket I would think.

If Coventry are interested I’d be tempted to see if there’d do a swap for Rudoni

Sheaf’s injured again I think. He’s struggled with fitness last season as well

Perfect for us then.

5m-6m ? Isn't peanuts and would be a decent return imo.
100% profit for someone who came through the youth set up. And free's up some wages.

Difficult watching the squad evolve, and some favourites leaving.
