"The Norwegian lad" 06:55 - Aug 31 with 816 viewsLen_Brennan

How remarkably more difficult to say, type or remember is 'Sindre', 'Egeli' or even 'Sindre Walle Egeli' than the name of any other player we have had over the last few years? Not much, if even, I would say, and yet he is constantly been reduced to "The Norwegian Lad" by posters on here & even by some of our better known podcasters - almost disrespectfully so, I would say, from the EATD/KOA's Game Day presenter yesterday, where he said it multiple times.
It was perhaps understandable over the first few days when we were linked to him, had to find out who he was and work on the pronunciation, but he has signed now, so he certainly deserves better, especially from the media & significant social media personalities?
We don't call Azor Matusiwa 'the Dutch lad', Marcelino Núñez 'the Chilean lad', or Cédric Kipré 'the Ivorian/Ivory Coast' lad'. Why has poor old Sindre been reduced to it!

I quite agree with you, as always. I'm was only saying to my mate yesterday how much I always agree with the churchy fella who got kicked up the erse.

Is the KOA podcaster Ross? If so, he’s pretty consistent at getting names wrong so probably went for the safest option. He couldn’t pronounce Sarmiento to save his life (Sarmiento) and I’ve heard him call Furlong “Forlung” too many times already. Got himself in middles pronouncing Hladky quite a few times as well.
Do agree though, we could do with it being cleared up.

I’ve heard pronounced ‘wall-a Egg-a-Lee’ which is how (in my head) it should be pronounced… until I’m corrected obviously

When I was listening to a Scandi commentary featuring said lad, their pronounciation of his name was closer to "aygeli" than as in egg.

I met a dutch bloke the other day and he laughed at my "Martin Royser" pronunciation. When he said it the correct way it was shall we say, a little different to my efforts.

Also wonder if that is why Philogene has Jayden on his shirt - just easier for us fans to get right.

Of all the things that need to be better, this isn’t even on the list.

‘The Dutch Lad in midfield’
‘Spainish boy up top’
‘Expensive flop on the wing’

I googled his pronunciation & heard him say his own name on his intro vid...

Walle sounds like wall
Egeli is 2 syllables/sounds like eggly

Hence the chant:

Sindre Walle Egeli oh yes!

"Expensive flop on the wing"? Sorry, you need to narrow that one down a bit!
