McKenna job security and our owners: 10:00 - Sep 1 with 1443 views | nrb1985 | In case of interest, thought I’d share the following after seeing a number of posts over the last few days from the resident board geniuses (Blueas, Muccletonjoe, etc.) about how “THe AmERIC@NS” will "get rid". Having just had a quick look at the pension scheme website, some context might be useful on just how involved — or otherwise — the “Americans” really are. Having checked their latest 13F filings, the Arizona pension fund holds over 2,000 different investments in its portfolio. Less than 10% sits in private equity — which is the bucket Ipswich Town falls into. In other words, we’re a completely immaterial slice of their portfolio, probably filed under “speculative/opportunistic” — albeit one that has so far paid off spectacularly. So the idea that anyone in Arizona is sitting there fretting about whether we need to change to 433, whether Cameron Burgess should have been offered better terms, or whether Muric is indeed Lev Yashin in disguise (he's not), seems somewhat unlikely. All told, I think we can be pretty confident the decision about KM’s future rests with Mark Ashton — and probably Mark Ashton alone. And given that he’s: a) very much Ashton’s guy, and b) quite clearly the club’s best asset, …it’s safe to say he isn’t going anywhere for now. Thankfully. [Post edited 1 Sep 10:00]

Doubtful in my view. For a full exit they would want a fairly punchy price you'd imagine and that was certainly suggested in the leaked memo. In the current climate just don't see that happening. Barely any private equity exits happening at all albeit sports teams are somewhat of their own niche. I think they could exit but not at the valuation they want and they aren't a distressed seller so no real need to sell now if they don't want to having already had a partial exit with the Brightpath. https://www.spglobal.com/market-intelligence/en/news-insights/articles/2025/4/pr [Post edited 1 Sep 11:28]

Eh, what are you on about? Brightpath bought in at a £250m valuation, the club according to the recent memo is valued at £370m. I'm not a maths genius but nearly 50% profit in 2 years seems ok to me. Further; a) ORG are the delegated portfolio manager for the pension fund, not a share holder b) Brightpath have no say in day to day running of the club and are a passive shareholder. My brain hurts! How does affect our tactical need to hit trans in the break from corners?

Bit harsh on trans. We need to be more inclusive surely?

Chill out bro. OK, for ORG read APF. No such thing as a passive shareholder in the real world. When was the £370m 'valuation' and has this been crystalised? Have you had your coffee this morning?

Really worried he might have had enough and find an established PL team to back instead, given he's obviously a glory hunter. Plus I hear rumours Kieran didn't laugh at his jokes at the Christmas party.

"No such thing as a passive shareholder in the real world" Excellent, well in that case in my portfolio I have a handful of Tesla shares - I shall pick up the phone to Elon this afternoon and see if I can try to help him with strategy for Q3. I joke of course...wouldn't dream of buying shares in any of that bloke's companies.

So.... once you own 40% of Tesla shares (😉😉).... will you still be passive if things arent going as you wish?
