Might as well keep Clarke and play Young or Johnson at LB if necessary than sign them.

But if Clarke is going on loan inJanuary which I would say is likely and if Johnson moves on as well for a fee from a premier league side, could just leave young and furlong and then we would be looking for a back up LB in that case anyway.

I can’t see Clarke even getting on the bench with how McKenna doesn’t like putting defenders on the bench so don’t think it changes much anyway if we did something like that.

If is doing a lot of heavy lifting. We would recruit in Jan if that happens, there's no value in doing it now. As it stands we've got Davis & Young fit as options on the left and Furlong & Johnson on the right, with Clarke not far away.
