Vienna and Bratislava; how many days? 18:37 - Sep 6 with 1415 views | ThisIsMyUsername | Travellers of TWTD, How many days would be necessary for a nice mini break to Vienna and Bratislava? Starting and finishing from Budapest with the train. I've seen comments online saying one day is enough for Bratislava, but I don't think I'd like to go to any new country and city just for one day. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Schonnbrun palace, Lippizan horse show and the zoo is very good there. They have panda bears š¼ they also have a very good Benneton store if you like Benneton gear.

Vienna and Bratislava; how many days? on 19:51 - Sep 6 with 1238 views | Europa | Might be worth remembering that Bratislava was pretty much a provincial city until 1993, so it lacks the majesty of an imperial capital like Vienna. Yeah, honestly, you can do the sights in a day. If youāre going soon, itās time to celebrate the wine harvest and drink lots of burÄiak ā young, cloudy, unfermented wine. Delicious. Perhaps you could prolong your stay by taking a winetasting tour of the cellars in the RaÄa district (I'm in Bohemia and we all head for south Moravia - which is similar - this time of year).

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll have a full day plus a half in Bratislava.

Add a day for the Pratar funfair and take in a tour that explains Vienna's position as capital of Europe.
Vienna and Bratislava; how many days? on 21:32 - Sep 6 with 1058 views | ottovonbismark | I have been to Vienna twice and I think 2-3 days is sufficient, it isn't a particularly large city, classical music and architecture are of course an inherent part of the city's culture. A nice city to walk around, queues typical for the more famous cafes. Bratislava I have never been to so can't comment.
Vienna and Bratislava; how many days? on 08:11 - Sep 7 with 588 views | Butch | Couple of days would be fine for both. I adore Slovakia and would recommend extending your day if you can. Agree on venturing up to the Tatra mountains, the trains are excellent and very reasonably priced. Even the wine area just to the north east of Bratislava in the Carpathians is worth the trip, and there are lovely little towns like Smolenice that'll give you a real taste of the region. BanskĆ” Å tiavnica and BanskĆ” Bystrica are also worth a detour. Agree that BurÄiak is worth trying, but steer clear of too much slivovica - it's lethal. Got to have some vyprÔžaný syr (fried cheese) while you're there. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Vienna and Bratislava; how many days? on 15:48 - Sep 7 with 199 views | Durovigutum | Iāve just spent two full days (3 nights) in each of Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava (as part of 22 days taking in seven cities). Do Bratislava as a day trip from Vienna (or Budapest). The medieval city is tiny and it really has taken a long time to not yet recover from being left to rot under the Soviet Union. You will get a feel for the place, contribute something to the economy, but have more time in cities with more to do. We did a walking tour in each place we visited - doing that as part of a day trip to Bratislava will probably do.
