Fairy nuff. In my head they're naff, overblown and outdated poodle-perm rockers who disappeared into irrelevance in the 80s. But I've been known to be wrong before.

Yes i think the typical following is the "boomer" generation who were around in the 80s. But still lots of them about and they're here for Leppard!

As mentioned earlier in the thread, we witnessed a bit of Marti Pellow's set on the telly and it was quite sad seeing him strut around in a kilt, sounding like a karaoke singer. Lady Dollers said the thought of looking up that kilt put her off her dinner. At least the Wets had the decency to retire.

They were still outselling Suede in the ear of Britpop when Suede had their imperial phase. Suede's last tour in 2023 saw them playing to crowds of 2,000. Leppard were selling out 40,000 stadiums during the same period.

I prefer Suede tbh. Saw them with the Manics last year and they were brilliant. Their latest album sounds like they are on top form but Leppard are a far bigger band and a much bigger draw to headline an event.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Mutt Lange produced wasn't it? I remember buying it and playing to to death in 1988. 7 singles taken from it which wasn't the norm back then.

I think only MJ's Bad outsold Hysteria that year.

Given that Mutt Lange has a connection to ITFC, it's just about justifiable for this thread to be in the football category.

I loved Suede back in the day, must admit I haven't heard their new stuff.

I did love Hysteria at the time, but I was 14 and my musical taste obviously hadn't matured. Not aware of DL doing anything decent other than that, so their popularity (even now) has surprised me!

Beat me to it :-)

Writer of Ipswich, Get that Goal. Colin Viljoen arranged it (the recording, not the actual song) I believe. They're both South Africans.

Mutt Lange (what a spoonerific name!) went on to marry and divorce Shania Twain.

Yes. If his Wikipedia page is to be believed, it's fair to say that he's packed quite a bit in to his life.

Ah, so it was never to do with Viljoen not giving lifts to the rest of the team. Talbot, quite rightly for once, must have insisted that Viljoen was left out of the final once he heard that monstrosity...
