Of the 27 fixtures in that season's competition prior to the final at Wembley, just two saw attendances of over 10,000, and only 21 out of a possible 44 First and Second Division clubs entered.

I went to that Charlton v Naaaridge Semi and Charlton v Blackburn final with my dad & his brother.
At Wembley crowd was something like 40,000, split 25,000 from Blackburn and 15,000 Charlton.
Other than Simon Garner scoring the only other thing I remember was it kicking off outside the ground, despite being out numbered Charlton took it to Blackburn.
Also heard that the SF wasn't a pleasant night for town fans and the Blackburn headwear fashion of the time was a Kepi, but that may just have been someone winding me up. |  |

When people complain about the Pizza Cup and UEFA Conference League being unnecessary it is worth bearing in mind the Full Member's Cup, the Anglo-Italian League and the Texaco Cup seemed worthwhile at the time. |  |
