| What does TWTD mean to you? 22:53 - Sep 21 with 13775 views | Swailsey | As I imagine Phil, Gav and Mark are pretty despondent/“why do we bother”at the moment, I thought it may be nice to have a thread where we can say all the good things that TWTD brings us. I’ll go first: TWTD (mainly the forum) provides me with a daily escape from the often difficult life I have. I’ve made no secret of my mental health problems, and this place has been unbelievable in supporting me many times (I remember a 10+ pager a few years ago where we all shared, and that was such a beautiful support tool for many). This forum and the users have talked me back from the edge many times, and I mean that sincerely. This place has such a wonderful and strong community. It has led me to make some extremely close friends over the years (Elto, TLA - RIP), as well as introducing me to some other wonderful people who I speak to primarily online (Dub, Glassers, Pagan, Ryorry, Hoppy, Herbie, No9 - RIP, Phil, jeera, clivebaker, Newcy, J2, Keno, Spruce - RIP?, WhosBlue) alongside many others who I have probably forgotten. As someone who feels isolation a lot, having an avenue to meet kind people online is so welcome. I know many of you have also made lifelong friends on here too. The news is second-to-none, the writing top quality, the depth of the site and amount of work that goes into it is incredible. If you compare it to other fansites (and actually, a lot of mainstream media), the quality is unrivalled. Phill, Gav, Mark do such an amazing job of keeping the site up-to-date and moderating it. God knows how they manage to have any semblance of a life. This is the first website I open in the morning, and it’s where I get a lot of my news. Thank you TWTD - I’d truly be lost without you - you have a hugely positive impact on my life and I’m grateful to be a part of it. [Post edited 21 Sep 2025 23:17]

| What does TWTD mean to you? on 19:44 - Jul 9 with 971 views | greeneking24 | Living miles away from Ipswich and going back in the day when cefax and the likes of team talk phone lines was the only way to hear what's going on at the club. The paper fanzine coming through the door was my only way to keep in the know about town. Then the website and forum helped me be part of the club. When I could only make a small handful. | What does TWTD mean to you? on 20:32 - Jul 9 with 875 views | Bluespeed225 | back in 98' when work got the internet , after years of buying from Phil and his table out back of the North! Promotion, Europe, relegation, dark times, then then into the light. Among all this were the usual births, deaths, marriages, divorces, career ups and downs, life in general, but TWTD is an anchor point now, like portman Road itself. We can fall out, inform, educate, give tips on everything from horses to boiler repair. Usernames remain a mystery, I might well know people who i talk to on here, but haven't a clue its them in real life. I didn't know my cousin was The Dalai Farmer until shortly before his death! Anyway, it's now part of my everyday life, almost another bodily function! Long Live TWTD! | | | |
| What does TWTD mean to you? on 20:51 - Jul 9 with 866 views | blue_curacao | Really great post and lots of fantastic, heart-warming replies, some of which have brought a tear to my eye. Phil/Gav/someone please pin this thread and leave it pinned so that whenever things get fractious on here we can all be reminded that *everyone* on here is actually OK. I love the range of opinions on here both football and non-football related. I don't post loads but I read everything. I don't know who anyone on here is in real life even though I'm sure many of my mates and the people I sit near on a Saturday are on here and I actually like it that way. I've been on here for maybe 20-25 years and I'm sure I'll still be on here in another 25 years. Keep up the good work all of you TWTDers and COYB! | | | |
| What does TWTD mean to you? on 20:56 - Jul 9 with 852 views | WD19 | TWTD has been a constant in my life since 1997. A direct thread to a great time. Time before I had to worry about earning a living, a partner or raising a family. Now here I am close to retirement, with grown up kids.....still wasting hours posting nothing. A lifetime of earning uppies and having Gav steal them away. Of posting irreverent nonsense as a pound shop Bloots tribute act. Of watching people come and go. The fact I have considered writing an instruction to notify TWTD of my departure in my last will and testament talks to my priorities in life. | | | |

| What does TWTD mean to you? on 21:49 - Jul 9 with 765 views | Apollo11 | Can you imagine a world without TWTD?! Such a cornerstone of all things ITFC since I first got online in 1998. The excitement of those early Burley years and some of the forum posters who kept things entertaining and funny. Breaking news such as the Marcus Stewart signing and the ln the joy of the Play off win made it addictive. One particular memory I've often talked about - it was also where the horrors of 9/11 were relayed - slow dial up internet at work and all news websites inaccessible - this forum was the only way the group of colleagues gathered around my desk could find out what was happening. People were posting reactions to what they were seeing live on TV. I remember reading the post where someone said a tower had collapsed and trying to picture such a scene of devastation. We've had many ups and downs as a club, played out on the forum - interesting and informative posts and good insights and opinions. Sometimes too fractious and downright confrontational - always felt sorry for Phil in those moments. I tend to avoid it when we've lost - the bed-wetting I can do without. But most of the time it's a good laugh and an interesting corner of the internet. Thankyou TWTD | | | |

Indeed, the local bands/musicians who support Town thread should have Swailsey's name in it but I can't remember the name of his band. And he wasn't the only Town fan in the band IIRC when I saw them at Brighten the Corners a couple of years ago. [Post edited 9 Jul 22:54]

| What does TWTD mean to you? on 08:47 - Jul 11 with 496 views | BloomBlue | The match reports (for those games I didn't attend) have always been the important part for me. Living away from Ipswich, even though its only London, meant in the non PL years match reports in the wider media really didn't exist. If a report did it invariably covered something non match related ie a couple of lines about player X dating person Y followed by Ipswich took a 2-0 lead and then Team z scored a consolation goal. But TWTD has always given a full report about the actual match. The comments and forum sections aren't any different to any social media site, X, Facebook etc. You'll always find important / helpful / insightful info, but you'll also find the cr@p / extreme far left & far right / misogyny you find on any social media site. For me the important thing is focus on the areas which you find beneficial. If you see something you dislike on the comments either ignore or respond with your opinion. Just keep it sensible, but obviously where you get a Norwich troll being negative about Town always call that out. Also not forgetting after my many years on TWTD, finally receiving an invite to the special restricted WhatsApp group. [Post edited 11 Jul 10:18]
