What does TWTD mean to you? 22:53 - Sep 21 with 6169 views | Swailsey | As I imagine Phil, Gav and Mark are pretty despondent/“why do we bother”at the moment, I thought it may be nice to have a thread where we can say all the good things that TWTD brings us. I’ll go first: TWTD (mainly the forum) provides me with a daily escape from the often difficult life I have. I’ve made no secret of my mental health problems, and this place has been unbelievable in supporting me many times (I remember a 10+ pager a few years ago where we all shared, and that was such a beautiful support tool for many). This forum and the users have talked me back from the edge many times, and I mean that sincerely. This place has such a wonderful and strong community. It has led me to make some extremely close friends over the years (Elto, TLA - RIP), as well as introducing me to some other wonderful people who I speak to primarily online (Dub, Glassers, Pagan, Ryorry, Hoppy, Herbie, No9 - RIP, Phil, jeera, clivebaker, Newcy, J2, Keno, Spruce - RIP?, WhosBlue) alongside many others who I have probably forgotten. As someone who feels isolation a lot, having an avenue to meet kind people online is so welcome. I know many of you have also made lifelong friends on here too. The news is second-to-none, the writing top quality, the depth of the site and amount of work that goes into it is incredible. If you compare it to other fansites (and actually, a lot of mainstream media), the quality is unrivalled. Phill, Gav, Mark do such an amazing job of keeping the site up-to-date and moderating it. God knows how they manage to have any semblance of a life. This is the first website I open in the morning, and it’s where I get a lot of my news. Thank you TWTD - I’d truly be lost without you - you have a hugely positive impact on my life and I’m grateful to be a part of it. [Post edited 21 Sep 23:17]

What does TWTD mean to you? on 13:31 - Sep 22 with 975 views | IndependentlyBlue | Couldn’t agree more Swailsey. Been using this site on and off for several years. Mostly a lurker for much of that time as can’t be bothered to get into the minutiae of some of the arguments/debates. Know it wouldn’t be good for my blood pressure or sanity. But am always astonished and humbled at the way the board gets behind those who ask for help. Life can be Shi’ite for all of us at times but great to see the support pouring out on here when someone is in need. That’s only possible because the site is here, and comes as a secondary bonus, to one of the best football/team sites around. As others have said it’s the first place to go to for so many of us and it’s the team behind it that we should all thank for that. World would be a much sorrier place without TWTD imho. Take care all.

What does TWTD mean to you? on 12:55 - Sep 22 by Zonderman | TWTD utopia for me would be to lose the forum altogether. Completely see why this will not be the case from a commercial point of view as well as it providing an important sense of community to some, but it has become a pretty unfriendly place in which to attempt to participate. Must pretty stark for new users as they join and get an unwelcome taste of it. The news and main site remain excellent and I know I speak for so many on here in being grateful to Phil and others for the quality of their work. There are many top people on here but as ever its the vocal few who spoil the party. |
This is such an odd comment. Why not just not click on it?

What does TWTD mean to you? on 13:57 - Sep 22 with 891 views | artsbossbeard | Fell out of love with this place about 2yrs ago after finding myself embroiled with the same posters, arguing the same old lines and not really enjoying the experience. Took a back seat and didn't get involved for ages but I'll happily dip in and out now. There's some good people on here and there's been some great causes and support of such ventures too. I may well up the ante a bit back on here. Maybe.
| Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing. | Poll: | Raining in IP8 - shall I get the washing in? |

What does TWTD mean to you? on 15:02 - Sep 22 with 662 views | Pendejo | Think I joined the internet in December 1998 specifically to use TWTD,* having lived in exile from Ipswich since 95 it was (sorry, IS) the best way of keeping up to date. That need was magnified when l lived in South America Then there's making friends; from Father Jack during my time in North West England, thru Johnhoz (as was), Johnny boy, Pinball Wizard, Hoppy, Newcy, Edwardstone, Guthram and Coastal Blue to name but a few. Oh & I sent Mach a huge box of memorabilia whilst he still lived in Poland, his face is the one I will remember most after Huddersfield in 2024. There's been much entertainment over the years, an admonishment or two from the Hammer, but no full crack. And I always seem to miss the apocalypse events. I chose the name Pendejo, which means "d1ckhead" specifically to absolve myself posting cr@p, but as I made friends dialled it down slightly, still post cr@p, playful cr@p. I use X for arguments these days, no moderator sort of. Beyond the board there's DMs, I've posted & received supportive & helpful DMs, and there's posters I need to meet. In my DMs is an exchange with Joe Soap which I continue to treasure, only met him once but he enjoyed my telling him about my youngest offspring as she ventured into the Met Police Volunteer Cadets (Joe had been Hampshire Police), she's now with Met & I'd love to tell him. * Ok & to access pawn (possibly a spelling mistake)

What does TWTD mean to you? on 16:00 - Sep 22 with 453 views | jasondozzell | First website I check each morning (and throughout rest of the day!) The best way to stay up to speed on all matters Towen. Plus the forum is just fantastic. Just so many interesting people and threads and different views. And some brilliant humour too. Normally a really supportive and kind community too. When I was really ill a few years ago everyone was so kind. Not an exaggeration to say I'd be lost without it!
