Fanzone food 09:41 - Sep 28 with 1319 views | Zx1988 | I ate in the Fanzone yesterday - pizza-topped fries from The Bucket List, very nice - and noticed that my card payment registered as being to ITFC rather than to an account that would seem to be linked to the trader. I've no experience of how catering like this works these days, but it feels a little bit off to me, as it suggests that the independent traders aren't actually receiving 100% of what they're making in sales. I was always under the impression that traders would pay for a pitch at a venue, and were then free to keep the entirety of their takings?

What if there is miserable whether and nobody wants to eat in the Fanzone? The trader still has paid for the pitch upfront. A percentage split is fairer to both parties. If ITFC process payments and then pay on the agreed percentage, the accounting is done by professionals with accredited standards which should ensure scrupulous fairness. ITFC may also have negotiated a much better rate with the card processing firm than a small trader can. I think this is probably a win-win.

That's a fair point. May well account for the recent early-bird deals on drinks as well. If ITFC is taking a cut of food takings, then it makes sense for them to do what they can to drive Fanzone footfall.

Also I believe they’re have to all be card only in the fanzone when they probably take cash at other events? So ITFC may help to facilitate that and provide the card machines?

Just to say that i had a burger outside the ground and after checking my bank statement it came out as Royston Catering or something, didn't recognize it, bank asked if I'd been to Royston on that weekend, then it dawned on me that I'd had this burger so it was obviously that, confusing though..

They were handing out free wings, which were delicious. However, at £15 for the curry I gave them a pass. Since when did £10 seem to become the minimum price for trailer food/van-meat? [Post edited 28 Sep 11:29]

I didn’t look at the price! It could be the best curry ever but I wouldn’t pay that much.

This was an answer to the question of goat curry... What species of goat has wings?

They were from the same vendor, so one would assume that the quality of the wings would also apply to the curry. I think that they got their pricing as a whole all wrong, though, given the relative lack of custom they were experiencing, and their surprise that the 'free wings' endeavour had paid off when my friend decided to have a portion of wings for his lunch.

Certainly better offer than the stands outside the ground and better for those of us who are vegetarian
