The next big thing that never became the next big thing, they appeared and then got unjustly ignored. Anyway the team need to know on Sunday, all you got to do is win:

Never heard of The Sound, but I like that! Reminds me of The Cult and Echo & The Bunnymen.
A truly fantastic band who are well worth getting into. Didn't get anywhere near the same exposure as Echo etc. Adrian Borland's story is a very sad one ultimately but he truly meant every word of those lyrics.

I've still got the 'A Sense Of Purpose' single, which i think I bought after their appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test, but much as I liked it I never took my interest any further. I guess a lot of other people were like that, so now that I have been piqued by the song you posted I read his Wikipedia page and didn't realise that he had done so much other music. But the black dog got him in the end:

With Nunez in our squad, how about the anthem of the Popular Unity, a left-wing political bloc that brought socialist Salvador Allende to the presidency of Chile in 1970?
Incidentally, Victor Jara gets a mention in the Clash song, Washington Bullets.
As every cell in Chile will tell The cries of the tortured men Remember Allende and the days before Before the army came Please remember Víctor Jara in the Santiago stadium Es verdad, those Washington bullets again
