Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid 19:26 - Oct 14 with 2756 views | Cheltenham_Blue | God the world seems insanely depressing since March 2020. Far worse than it was previously for sure.

Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 09:22 - Oct 15 with 459 views | BlueNomad | I can’t stop myself reading about the antics of the right wingers around the world, almost as if I sub-consciously want to get angry that so many people have become so brainwashed by monsters like Trump et al. It doesn’t do me any good but I still listen to political podcasts even when out with the dog. I never feel better afterwards apart from knowing I’m keeping up. I don’t know how to stop.

Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 09:41 - Oct 15 with 425 views | BiGDonnie | It's what you make of it innit. Stay away from pretty much all news/politics, surround yourself with those you want in your life and enjoy the things you want to do. Hope you're alright tho fella, you'll be buzzing when we dismantle Boro on Friday night.

Genuinely fine. Just the constant drone is draining. Not your constant drone, obvs.

Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 22:57 - Oct 14 by baxterbasics | Give this a read. Published on the eve of Covid but still applies I think. |
Just to expand a little further, I feel we easily forget just how far human progress has come in the last century or two. For the majority of human history life for masses of people has been “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short" as per Hobbes. Yes there are still dark corners of the planet where people live in fear of starvation, war, disease or oppression, and it's easy in todays information-saturated world to feel like we are taking steps backwards sometimes, humanity is experiencing some growing pains, but the overall trend remains positive in my opinion. As for me personally it has been a tough few years in some ways - lost my mum three years ago and just one month ago my dad followed, both to illness and younger than they should have been. I am an orphan at the tender age of 45. On the positive side, 2026 may finally see me able to own my own home, be otherwise debt free, and have some measure of security, avoiding what was looking like having to work until I am 90 or a pension in poverty. Important to count ones blessings, I think.

Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 13:01 - Oct 15 with 267 views | leitrimblue | Without trying to sound like a contrary, annoying prick, I have to admit I really enjoyed the whole lockdown experience, and since then and this year especially my work life as gone absolutely crazy. I probably have 3 times the clients I had prior to covid and I'm struggling to keep up with the work. Which is a good problem to have I guess. Obviously the wider world looks a bit of a mess, but I try to avoid the news and social media etc as much as possible, which helps slightly | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 14:07 - Oct 15 with 219 views | blue62 | That's a big yes. Refreshing to know that it is not just me (or you) that feel the same. And so good to talk about it, so thanks for posting. Personally since 2020 I have lost my dad, my dog, my marriage. Two of those were devastating! 2026 is looking more positive with a fresh start with a new partner and move. Sometimes we all need a change. Chin(s) up all.

Anyone else finding life a struggle since Covid on 07:36 - Oct 15 by Churchman | I’m sorry you got a bad dose of it. It seems to have affected people in so many ways - none of them good. I was lucky in that regard. Just total loss of energy for a week. You are right about social media/media detox too. I was in Portugal playing golf badly last week. There were eight of us, none under 60 years old. On the first day as we sat there having a beer after hacking around I noticed six of the eight were immediately on their phones either whatssapping, looking at links to stuff, news, social media etc. there was a lot of silence. My phone was off. I’ve noticed it a lot more since Covid. One of my closest mates is getting worse with it. If I’m having a beer with him he will inevitably slide his eyes to his dirty great phone and often start tapping. Even if in mid conversation I’ll stop talking as I do to anyone doing that. He doesn’t know he’s doing it. People seem incapable of separating out their lives and enjoying the moment or even just focusing on one thing. You see it in trains for example. People don’t read or do the crossword, which at least makes the brain work a little. They tap away or passively look at dross. Lives all mixed up. No switch off. Maybe it was always that way and I notice it more now. |
This is me. I used to love reading, but now doom scroll. I have identified this, but somehow can’t reverse it.i have bought books to try and force the issue but they sat unread. Covid-wise. I had it but with minimal symptoms. However, am constantly tired. 9/11 changed the world. 2008 financial crisis didn’t help and we won’t recover financially from COVID for decades with each party blaming the predecessor. And then Russia, China and impending WW3. Believe it or not I usually come on here for you lot to cheer me up.
