But puts himself about far better than Hirst has this season.

Also Nunez as a 10. I like it.

I think he’ll get goals soon , there’s a few in our square that you feel just need that first goal this season ; him , Szmodics, Akpom, Egeli

Kipre the first and only new signing to score so far - who had that on their bingo
card 11 games in ?

The shot from Azon yesterday was very good, it's just that the keeper made an excellent save.

As it is, Azon seems to make things happen which is no bad thing. And maybe he is still adjusting to the pace of English football.

I particularly liked how Nunez and Clarke tried to play in Azon and Egeli respectively on two occasions. Like they want their teammates to get off the mark even though the could have had a go themselves.

Shows a great team ethic.

At one-nil up, having lost two in a row, I would have preferred it if they had just scored themselves.

But I interpreted what they did in the same way as you, and it does show a great team spirit.

On the subject of strikers. What role do people think McKenna is asking Hirst to do, becuase he rarely seems to be in the box, but mostly working his butt off chasing down defenders when they have the ball, or sitting midway in the opponents half either laying the ball off or looking for it?

Is this because our MF isn't getting the ball to him further up the pitch, or we are largely for 60 mins just playing possession footie in our own half so hes not getting the service? Im a big Hirst fan, but I feel so frustrated for him at the lack of goals, but he works so bloody hard for the team, always.

Mills said to tonight "Hirst has never been an out and out goal scorer" ( vavked by stats i suppose). So if that is the case, what IS his role?

When we had Broadhead, Hirst, Chappers, Burns the understanding between them all was stunning, and Hirst for me was pivotal in that attack. When he went out with his hamstring injury it was notable that those forwards didnt score anywhere near the same number of goals. But fast forward to this season and there's simply not that connection. So has Hirst been asked to do things differently, or has he simply lost his mojo?

Given the way we use the bench, I have always thought Hirst's role is to give centre halves a rough time for 65 or so minutes so they're flagging by the time the subs come on. Teams rarely sub central defenders so if they've been knocked around for most of the game and are then faced with Clarke, Nunez or whoever KM has up his sleeve, they're going to be chasing shadows.

He's also there to hold the ball up and play in the runners.

I may be wildly wrong but that's my reading of it.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I'll be delighted for him when he gets his goal... and his name scans perfectly to replace Delap's chant!
