Frustration aside. Should have scored second half.

But some very good football. The patterns and understanding is emerging.

Felt like watching 22/23 and 23/24 side tonight.

It is so far away from our 22/23 and 23/24 side.

It’s almost an insult to suggest it.

No they'd never suffer a frustrating midweek home draw with Watford!

Don't agree. Tonight I thought we started to see little echoes. The rhythm, some of the football, patterns of play.

Front 4 change at 60 having immediate impact and understanding.

Coming on strong at the end of the game as opposition start to tire.

Results and performances like that were more anomalous for that group, they’re too regular for this group currently.

It’s chalk and cheese I’m afraid.

I mean I'm not sure that's entirely fair. That team was incredible, but since the transfer window this team has achieved 17 points from 9 games. That's 1.9 ppg, keep that up and we won't be far off

That really wasn't like watching the promotions team at all

No it didn't.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Oh come off it. Absolutely nowhere the quality of those sides

Individual wise some absolutely do...but it's not that obvious still.

As a team it's miles off.

We had loads of nights and Saturdays like that. Until we finally clicked with Massimo's arrival.
A good year after KM arrived...

I see similarities, atm. We are not quite there yet.. Even if people want everything by yesterday..

I see a very similar pattern to how we got going under KM in our L1 promotion season. Patches of brilliance with reminders that there's still more to come..

People acting like we've just lost at home to Lincoln City.. Remember that one on our journey?

Couple of Missed chances cost us a narrow win tonight. Nothing else. It happens.

Fine margins, your last paragraph is interesting though.
Had Clarke not scored against West Brom we could be sat here talking about Two points from home games against Charlton, West Brom and Watford.

Shhh. Don’t cloud the flouncing with facts.

We know there’s more to come, but we are moving in the right direction, albeit I’m sure we’d all like it to be a bit quicker, it is coming.

It took that group a lot more than 15 games to become the team that they did - they didn’t really get motoring until February 2023 and were very patchy up until that point. I bet that you were one of the many calling for McKenna’s head after the Bristol Rovers game. Memories are short, fans are fickle

But Clarke did score. Anyone can turn positives to negatives. It’s dead easy and that’s what the dismals are doing. It’s why the last two home games read like defeats on here and so many have given up on this team.

Some idiot phoned into the post match last night and spent an age bleating on about the performance against what was paid for these players. It’s all he had to say. Endlessly. As if he couldn’t understand that real rootball isn’t the same as FM25. I pity the poor s0d sitting next to him - if he ever went to games.

The reality is that we were ok last night. Not brilliant, a little bitty, but play that game ten times we’ll win eight of them. I enjoyed it despite the frustration. Live football, no guarantees.

People talk about the 23/24 team like it was brilliant every week. It wasn’t. It scrapped for plenty of results and I include in that draws. Is the current team better than that side? No. The table doesn’t lie. Are the players individually better? Mostly. Is the squad stronger? By a mile.

Did I think we’d be doing better in the table at this stage? Yes. Am I surprised we are not? No. It happens plus shedding getting crushed every week for half a season obviously leaves a mark - see LCFC and Saints..

This team bears a striking resemblance to that of McKenna’s first half season. Just because you have the best players, progress is not automatic and guaranteed game on game. If people stick with it, this team will go on a run at some point - hopefully soon. It’s football.

Sometimes it’s best to see it for what it is and enjoy the ride.
