| Fair play North Stand; Egeli entertainment; front line clicking 16:08 - Nov 5 with 1918 views | unstableblue | Think last night has been well analyzed on here BBC Suffolk was a touch painful and negative on the way home, but I thought through the game and at full time the North Stand appreciated some of the good play seen in the second half and the chances created. Players came closer to the North and connected better at the end of this game. Getting 5 big chances on FotMob and with a near 2.0 XG means exactly what we all saw a 1-1 draw snatched from the jaws of a 2-1 win. We should have won, but we didn’t. I joked yesterday if we had won last night we’d get automatics, and there’s actually an element of truth in that. It would have meant we’d tweaked the squad and probably one of the other front player to Jaden/Hirst had bagged a goal… and we’d do into Swansea flying ahead of the international break. But we’re thinking we’d still not quite clicked and figured out how to drive up the league. Akpom, Azor and Egeli need a goal, then many more will come. Egeli is worth the season ticket for me… he’s just an absolute joy to watch, and getting better very week. Improving our right side. Still we’re lying only 7 points behind Stoke in second with a game in hand. And yet I still feel this team has more gears to go into. But we’ve got to get the team spirit and patterns going… and then we’ll have a run. Still some good stuff last night… maybe switching Taylor was the error. He looked in such good form when he came in last night. [Post edited 5 Nov 2025 16:08]

First half hour or so yesterday, he was brilliant. I genuinely think we're going to be getting 40/50m offers for him by the end of the season, but I hope for everyone's benefit he's wedded to the idea of staying here under KMc for a few years to develop. Taylor, as you say, is suddenly like a new signing - some of his skills work out near the left touchline was a step up from anything I've seen from him before, to go along with his excellent work rate.

Yes those couple of touches from Taylor second half on our left were sublime… he’s like a new player and completely justifying his new contract Agree Egeli improvement curve is really steep currently… not sure £40-50m is quite there, BUT, if he continues to show this improvement, gets more dominant, and crucially starts getting assists and goals.. then yes could have quite a high ceiling His age makes him very valuable Hutchinson £37.5m! Lavia from Saints to Chelsea was £58m!

To see some people moaning mid game is just so odd to me. The time horizons people have get shorter and shorter. We are not going to be second next week. Thankfully we have 33 games to go. We just have to keep improving and climbing slowly and we will definitely give ourselves a chance of top 2. Right now we are in third gear at best and could enter the play off places soon. It's mad. If people keep their heads this is such an opportunity. It's not the strongest division. Rather than lost their minds at the fact we're not top two now they should just give this squad and McKenna the season. I realise that takes some patience and unfortunately some (vocal minority IMO) just don't seem to have it.

Largely, I think i'm still okay with that. I can see improvements and against Watford, we were far better than them and were creating chances. Areas of the pitch are rapidly improving and with Furlong and Egelli, we're now dangerous both sides. Egelli has a wicked delivery on him, I mean seriously good quality, the ball is low and fast and difficult to defend and looks like he can go both ways too. I thought Cajuste did well again, the guy is another level at times, just still not quite seen it for the entire time he's on the pitch, perhaps we just expect more because of what we see he can do? It's getting there. Azon I really like and feel desperately sorry for him, he's been as unlucky as you can get, but has made contributions, he's fast, strong and gets in the right places, he'll get goals. It's not linear, but it's in the right direction. Still think Greaves is better than Kipre, but feels like i'm in a minority now on that one. Happy as I think I can be with being 10th.

I agree with most of this and the OP. I came away from Watford really disappointed but it was disappointment and frustration that we didn't get over the line with the win rather than, say, after the Charlton game where it was disappointment at how poor we were. I remain optimistic that we will continue to grow and improve and I feel like (deperately hope that) we will hit full stride by the turn of the year. I am also in the minority(?) that thinks Greaves is better than Kipre but accept that he has had some poor performances. I think once he regains his place we'll see much better from him. And Walle Egeli is definitely going to be special. However, I believe that KM is playing him more than anticipated while Burns is out and McAteer gets up to speed. I wouldn't be surprised to see McAteer start against Swansea. I'm over the disappointment of Tuesday now and the excitement is building ahead of Saturday. COYB

Unless of course you feel that our new CDM will start rising the goalscoring charts once he gets his first goal.

Agree the Watford game frustrating but Charlton was as disappointed as I've been at home in the Championship for a long time.

Coming out of the North stand on Tuesday night I felt good - frustrated that we hadn't taken one of those great chances to win but upbeat because we played well second half and it was a really enjoyable game to watch. It was entertaining and you could see players expressing themselves. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As you state if everyone, fans, players and manager hold their nerve, foster the incremental improvement… Stick together… Second spot is more than achievable And along the way we get to see Egeli’s glorious rise, Taylor’s renaissance, Jaden goal upon goal, and Jack Clarke’s full rise to cult status.
