I thought of him as an ex Boro player but apparently their fans don't like him. Something occurred when he was a player there.

Why would Hackney want to go to Wolves?….unless your comment is tongue in cheek.

I wondered if Norwich were dragging their feet on Manning in the hope Farke became available. Would certainly be a sensible hire from Knapper as he would be afforded more time than most and would take the heat off him. Not sure he would necessarily go back there though.
| Rob Edwards has joined Wolves on 12:52 - Nov 10 with 2725 views | Devereuxxx | I think it's highly likely Gary o'Neil will end at one of the available jobs (Boro, Norwich, Southampton), it's just a case of where. Interesting that all of those jobs are available at the same time, as you'd think they'll all be fishing in the same pond. Favouring managers available with no compensation needed etc; those managers currently on the carousel are probably bumping into each other at the interviews. | | | |

That would be reliant one Knapper making a sensible appointment. Can you see that happening?

Farke wouldn't go back there. Surprised anyone thinks Carrick would either. Both can do a lot better.

He admitted in an interview to deliberately getting a yellow card to suspend himself so he could watch the Masters golf when he was player there. Bad enough as is, but think Boro were in a relegation scrap at the time.

I'm not sure Carrick will get much better. Bias aside Norwich are a decent sized 2nd tier club, about the best he can hope for I would say. Its not like he really achieved a huge amount at Boro.

But you have to look at where they are now. The bull market is over. Now is the bear market for Norwich. It's not an attractive job to someone like Carrick IMO.

They also haven't got a pot to pss in next season. The nodge owners have made it clear in their accounts non promotion this season will mean additional funding required next season.. to me they're falling into the Marcus Evans days of owner survivorship over the club running itself that it enjoyed over the past yo yo years. It'll be interesting how truthful manning was about no manager being able to turn the tide there. Appreciate its easy to try and blame players over your own management of a team. But for someone who did a solid job last season, could he really be that bad a manager only months later.

I don't understand the clamour for O'Neil. He briefly did a decent short term job at Bournemouth & then wolves before it all went pear shaped. No evidence he can build a team.

I thought it was fairly telling how quickly the new firefighter coach turned them around, he then got screwed in the summer as they sold their best players Danny Murphy was saying how Wolves would be more attractive to Edwards due to local affinity to the club and the budget even with relegation, the mistake there is assuming Wolves will give Edwards time, they rarely seem to give anyone time, as the last manager has proved [Post edited 10 Nov 2025 18:12]

They're still pretty well backed, they've spent £55m on players in the past 12 months and the owners have deep pockets. The parachute money has gone but I'm not sure they're too much further behind the 8 ball than Boro were. Some good recruitment over the next window or 2 and they could be back among the sort of 6th - 10th pack, which is probably in line with the Boro that sacked him. I just can't see him getting a Premier League job, he might get better than Norwich, maybe a Birmingham or something but the longer he's out the harder it becomes.

Don't get me wrong I think their squad is crap, but given some licence to change that you would've thought they could shift a few of the expensive flops and bring in 6 or 7 more proven players over the next window or 2. Boro finished 4th, 8th then 10th under Carrick, I don't think his stock is as high as some think it is. Not saying he can't do better than Norwich, but I could see some appeal if the job was offered to him.

Yes, Wolves have become a selling club & that usually ends badly. Could be a poor career move for Edwards, who was rebuilding his reputation at Boro.
