You Are The Manager: England Edition 17:45 - Nov 12 with 1811 viewsChris_ITFC

Tuchel has rightly admitted today that he can’t pick everyone. He’s basically said Bellingham, Foden and Kane can’t play together in his shape. So in those key positions, who would you pick? YOU are the England manager:

Pickford
??????
Stones
Guehi
Meh
??????
Rice
??????
??????
??????
Kane

RIGHT BACK (Pick 1)
James / Spence / Trent / Konsa / Walker

MIDFIELD (Pick 2, to play with Rice in some kind of midfield shape)
Wharton / Anderson / Bellingham / Foden / Palmer / Rogers / Gibbs-White / Eze

WIDEMEN (Pick 2, if not already picked above)
Saka / Palmer / Bowen / Foden / Gordon / Rashford / Eze

That's the problem with Tuchel, if you cannot adapt your style to get your best players playing in the same team you're not the manager for the job.

It's about building the best team with what is available, not just playing the best players

Pickford

Lewis Skelley
Guehi
Stones
James

Wharton (6)
Rice (8)
Bellingham (10)

Rashford (LW)
Saka (RW)

Kane

Don't think Lewis Skelley will be picked but that would be my choice. Anderson for Wharton is an obvious change which works and then Gordon for Rashford.

Foden and Palmer as options in the squad would give us crazy depth. I'd also take Welbeck as an experienced backup striker but again, that will not happen.

Not even a mention of Foden.

(because every team will be missing someone like that!)

Good problems, I suppose…

He's never done enough in an England shirt and not really fulfilled his promise for me. We can't pick players on name and reputation, I'd much rather have Eze or Gordon.

Nonsense. A problem for many England managers has been trying to shoehorn the best players into a system that doesn’t work for them.

What if eight of your best eleven are left backs?

Trailing vapour since 1999.

Didn't he say something about a 9½ or 10½ ??? Tbh the old inside right and lefts is a much better description in my view

_______Pickford
James Stones Guehi Shaw
_____Rice Anderson
Saka Bellingham Rashford
________Kane

I'd go for Shaw at left back for the experience at the back (assuming he's not injured again!)
It's worked with Anderson recently so he should keep his place for now
And Rashford just ahead of Gordon as although Gordon is more consistent Rashford I think is capable or more.

It's incredible how little talent we have in the fullbacks and especially at LB compared with the embarrassment of riches further up the park. Incredible that Foden, Palmer and Gordon can all be left out, but I think that front 4 as you've picked is pretty nailed on.
