Maybe. You still have to win your group in Europe to qualify, so there’s not many weak teams coming. The play offs are a one in four chance and hedged towards the stronger teams as well.

| Scotland and Ireland have saved this World Cup qualifying campaign... on 21:55 - Nov 18 with 699 views | Swansea_Blue | The last match of the campaign at any rate. I always want the other home nations and Ireland to do well. I think it’s guilt from us English treating them all like crap for hundreds of years lol I know the feeling isn’t reciprocated and they’d like us to crash and burn, but that’s fine. | |

Yes to be fair UFEA is probably the least impacted by the expansion in terms of qualification. Is this Scotland’s first World Cup since 98?

The most TWTD post ever. Do you feel guilty for all kinds of other stuff you have nothing to do with as well? They hate us and actively cheer for our demise every tournament.

I feel the same. Irish in family so always root for them. Smaller nations are great to watch.

Of the 16 extra teams, Europe only got another 3 teams whereas Asia doubled their allocation of direct qualification from 4 to 8. World Cup should have teams from all around the world of course, not just a glorified Euros with Brazil and Argentina thrown in, but putting aside the fact 48 is ridiculous and the tournament is ruined before its even started because it goes on forever, there are going to be too many poor teams and "defence v attack" games in the first few weeks (months?).

I am a Scotland fan, I will always support us over England, but when we're not playing each other, I always want England to succeed.

I feel towards Scotland and the other home nations a bit like I do towards Colchester. I know they would never cheer us on, but I'm pleased to see them do well safe in the knowledge that they're unlikely to be better than us. Good on 'em.

Yeah I do. I feel sorry for our future generations that were screwing up the only planet they’ll have to live on. Sorry for kids today whose parents are letting them down. And sorry for all the people that our forefathers treated badly. I can’t do anything about it but that doesn’t stop me feeling. I’m not a big fan of people getting a sh*t deal through no fault of their own.

Yeah, I said in another thread that to be fair it’s affected UFEA the least.
