Well I think its right McKenna takes the can if someone is going to be fired. Hes been given the backing financially to put together a promotion winning team. If we fall short, its on him.
I figure he will get the season. While McKenna seems to be failing, we are only just outside the promotion places so the disruption of getting in a fire fighter (plus paying off McKenna) seems a bad idea right now.

I gather there was a specific La Liga team they were interested in but that's not happening for whatever reason, but they're looking for an alternative.
Real Madrid?

Yes, but getting to - and staying in - the PL is very difficult. The £350m value put on Town by the recent transaction reflects a lot of hope that this will be achieved. I'm not surprised that the Arizona Pension fund are scaling back - they will have done spectacularly well from their risk capital investment. Town are probably better off being owned by a US consortium rather than one rich, mad investor (see Marcus Evans & too many others to mention) but it will be interesting to see how the owners feel if we fail to get promoted this season. My guess is that Ashton will shift all the blame onto McKenna & the latter will be fired.
It is. As I say, the £350m was a speculative figure in Brett Johnson's email shot in the summer and the deal is actually worth a fair bit more than that. Pension fund will I'm sure have made more than they ever thought they would from Town already with a considerable stake remaining in the club. Will be interesting to see where fingers are pointed at the end of the season if it doesn't go to plan.

Well, Ashton is running the club so it's not hard to see where the blame will be transferred.

So, what's the plan then ? To get us to a certain financial state then sell on a vast profit, or continue to run it as a football club first and foremost and establish ourseleves as a truly medium to (small) largish PL club? What actually makes a club "large" anyway ? Im mean what do the owners perceive to be our achievable ceiling both as a football club and say stock market value, if ever floated?

This is why I don't agree with "the owners can't be happy, they wont put up with this much longer" which I read here whenever there's a dodgy result.
I'm sure they are quite happy that they've effectively added a zero to their initial investment.
Of all the nonsense that gets posted on here sometimes, that one is top of the list for dimwittery.
Bright Path came in and within months we were a Premier League club. I expect all the investors are loving it. They don't sit there going "oh no, we drew with Blackburn, withdraw the funds".

Good news by and large then It can be a be very when the talk is all about finances snd not gootball. But that's the world we live in niw I guess. Even if Town fo reach the heady heights of £1bn value, my thoughts are " so what"?
I.know notjing of finances in the gsme so this valuation of the club is only important surely for those that own the club, and would only get benefit from thst investment when they sell on their shares to someone else. Does being worth £1bn mean we'd be more likely to sign world class players? As for us mere fans.... it means little really doesnt it.
If we're worth £1bn then that means we're an established Premier League club with world class players and winning trophies, including European ones. So yes, it benefits the fans.

I think the plan is for them to become our feeder club.
Heard anything else on Slovan Bratislava, Phil? I’d heard back in the summer the ownership group were keen to acquire them and become part of the ‘group’ as such.

Yes, a key part of this story is that the pension fund is scaling back. Selling some of their stake. They're entitled to do that, and it makes sense. But we should be in no doubt that this is a large current owner which has chosen to /reduce/ its exposure.
I also agree as regards 'one rich, mad investor'. However, to be fair to Evans, when he sold up, quite apart from writing off the £90m-odd debt, he ensured that the club would be going into safe hands. And thus far, those hands have indeed been very safe. As the ownership structure gets more and more splintered, we can be less and less sure that we understand the competence/benevolence of those who own the club. So I think it pays for the fanbase to be circumspect: cautiously welcome developments, whilst scrutinising what's going on to ensure that everything is still tickety boo.

It wasn't the ownership group per se, it was one member of the Bright Path group, a minor investor, I believe, who mentioned their Town connections when speaking to Slovan, hence it made the Slovakian media. Ultimately I don't think it came to anything.

GC and the other shareholders need to keep watch over MA as well, not as if MA is totally blameless if we do c0ck up this season
A system of checks and balances is definitely needed especially at the club level
I would imagine there would be even more scrutiny of the off-field management now given the number of investors involved and the experience of running other sports teams they've brought to the table.

The increase in commercial revenue and measures to get more fans into the stadium pre the League One promotion give Ashton a lot of credit in the bank, and he has overseen the stadium and training ground redevelopments pretty well. Bit harsh to point the finger at him.
