Football club valuation is generally a bizarre thing (given lack of profits, levels of debt and uncertainty of success).
I suppose we simply are in the hands of a bunch of people who see worth in having a foothold in the English game - and some property development potential in and around Portman Rd. Plus the original bunch bought relatively cheap at the right time and have got the right people in to add value (even if we don't go back up this May). |  |

Football club valuation is generally a bizarre thing (given lack of profits, levels of debt and uncertainty of success).
I suppose we simply are in the hands of a bunch of people who see worth in having a foothold in the English game - and some property development potential in and around Portman Rd. Plus the original bunch bought relatively cheap at the right time and have got the right people in to add value (even if we don't go back up this May). |
This is why I don't agree with "the owners can't be happy, they wont put up with this much longer" which I read here whenever there's a dodgy result.
I'm sure they are quite happy that they've effectively added a zero to their initial investment. |  |

And yet some people still question the ambition of the club/owners.
This is nice conformation that we're seen as a long term project, and the odd 'blip' in our progress isn't undermining that ambition (even if the blip is a season or two). It's about the journey to 2031/32.
This will be uncomfortable for those expecting instant gratification (and of course we'd all like higher success on the field right now), but like any sustainable business, the ownership appear committed to building the framework for our long-term future, and success. I'm bought into this strategy - hopefully more will get on board  | | | |

Well, £1bn is the figure that's being looked at as a potential value. Not sure what happens if and when they get there. Bits will probably be sold off here and there anyway.
Despite the increased Clara Vista stake, the feeling seems to be its very much business as usual, continuing on the same path. The pension fund have obviously done very well out of the value they have received up to now, probably three times or so what they've put in, I would guess, although not done the precise sums. They've maintained their still significant stake as they see the valuation predictions as realistic going forward. | | | |

The owners/club have been pretty open about this (although you have to piece it together to some extent).
Only the owners will know precisely how it is intended to work for them, but this is how I've pieced it together. The goal would seem to be to establish ourselves as a successful PL club by ~2031/32, elevating the club to be a global footballing brand, which can be leveraged for a variety of commercial activities that generate value for the owners, and funds to fuel the development of the team. | | | |

Thanks. The Clara Vista site is interesting; Ipswich the focus but plans to invest in a La Liga club. Possible deals/partnerships between the two clubs (although isn’t multi ownership model subject to scrutiny… Palace, Forest etc)?
They make clear that football clubs can cost a fraction of what is paid for U.S. sports ‘franchises’. Half a billion for an MLS team makes us look a great deal! | |
