Get him back in January on loan?

It was the way the ref pointed at several parts of the pitch before carding him but that would make more sense. I can't imagine Delap had done more than the one foul in the time he had been on.

Do you honestly think he would do that? His ego would certainly prevent it.

Chelsea will offload him . £30m is nothing to them. And no, I wouldn't want him back here.

Also, watch him for watkins' headed winner. He's just stood watching like a spectator, wondering what the he'll just happened. Very reminiscent of Harry Maguire's headed goal against Ipswich last season.

Nodded off during the game after a catch up with chums in a local hostelry so missed Delap’s booking. My Chelsea supporting chum likes Delap and sees a lot in him. He thinks that simply LD has a heck of a lot to learn and that he was bought for his potential. Let’s face it, Chelsea paid chump change for him relative to their worth; the equivalent of one of McCarthy’s punts so for them it was a no lose gamble. I actually believe he will be a top player. I am surprised, that coming from Man City, he is not more of a rounded football player. Maybe he is just thick. He only knows one approach. Head down and charge. I hope he will be a top player one day. Has the skill and physical attributes.

It is clear they think they can develop him but he is also being played fairly regularly as well which shows they think he is good enough to play already. I think he has been trying too hard which has led to him picking up too many cards. It is also interesting to see there are many Chelsea fans who are keen to write him off before he has had much of a chance. I wouldn't be overly surprised to see Chelsea sign someone else and loan Delap somewhere to develop.

I am too, especially as his father was a pro too. It is strange. Delap certainly knows where the goal is and is a monster of a bloke. Decent pace too, but he seems to be getting into bother too easily and has to learn when to release the ball and when not too. He’s still young and that’ll come which, serious injury permitting, is why I believe he’ll be a top player.
