Convincing performance. Absolutely bossed that game. 21:19 - Dec 29 with 832 viewsNthsuffolkblue

Coventry have only lost 3 matches so far this season and two of them were against us. We totally outplayed them today and were the better side at PR too (although we needed Walton to be at his best there as well).

I defy any genuine Town fan to say they didn't enjoy that or found it boring to watch.

Best we’ve played in a long long time.

Outstanding performance. We looked a lot like the Ipswich of 2023/24, dare I say possibly even a little better as we didn't put in an away performance that convincing against a top 6 side that year. It feels like something is starting to click at last, not quite fully there but yet we're agonisingly close now to being a great side at this level. We have to keep progressing though, this needs to be a springboard not a false dawn.

I don't think we could've asked for a better opponent to use this win as a springboard than 23rd-placed managerless Oxford.

It's time to give them some payback for that Friday night horror show in Nov.

It was most definitely the best we've passed the ball all season. The were patterns visible for large parts of the game too.

Defensively we've really stepped up in the last few weeks. The silly mistakes seem to have been eradicated, and we rarely look like we're easy to play through now.

Things do feel like they're starting to come together. If we can start to claim a few more goals for our dominance in matches, and string a few wins together, then I think we'll reel Middlesbrough in quickly, and start to catch Coventry in the coming weeks.

I've just watched the second half (I had to go out just after H/T) and that was one hell of a performance away at the league leaders. We outplayed them all over the pitch.
An absolute joy to watch.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

They will come with the lowest block imaginable.

There will be no space for us to exploit. We need an early goal or two to make them play a bit.

It really did, complete control. Surprised xg was only 1.1 thought we created some good chances and could have scored 3 or 4 easily

If you're comparing us to the Ipswich of 2023/24, ought to remember that Leeds pretty much did to us what we've done to Coventry this season (and we know how that season ended for them), so that's the key comment I'm taking from your post.

We're definitely starting to build connections / partnerships around the pitch and have no problem getting in areas to hurt the opposition, but the "agonisingly close" for me is our decision making in doing that - last night there were impatient shots from outside the box, players not gambling on getting on the end of good crosses into the box, and trying to place shots that would have been better with power (and vice versa) Hopefully Burns' composed finish last night will inspire a few of the others.

We're currently the worst offenders in the divison for big chances missed (39 goals / 43 chances missed) Coventry were the worst last season (64 goals / 84 chances missed), and again we know how that season ended for them. We're looking a lot more solid defensively now, so improving how clinical we are in front of goal in the 2nd half of the season will be the difference between automatics and play-offs.

Actually disagree- would rather be playing someone who are midtable. They are going to be desperate for points and make it a very long afternoon.

The fluidity of yesterday will be out the window and will be an absolute grind I think.

Of course happy to be wrong, and we smash them 4-0 but we’ve had enough of these type of opponents to know otherwise (see also Derby and Charlton home games).
