So pleased for him coming off the bench and scoring against Cov the other day and would be pleasantly surprised if he has much of an impact for the remainder of the season.
But when he came on today was a complete passenger, think McAteer would have offered more

It takes time to have confidence in physical engagements after an ACL.

I think I’m right I’m saying he touched the ball once between coming on, and the 90th minute. He then touched it 2/3 times more in injury time.

It was weird watching it just not happen. Sometimes him, sometimes the passing to him.

All the subs were. The team, by that point, had dropped a few gears and Oxford were pushing harder. He has been out a year with a career-threatening injury so am not sure we can expect fireworks relentlessly...

It was strange. We brought him on and then ignored him completely!

Still fantastic to see him back on the Portman Road pitch. All being well he'll be like a new signing!

He came on just as Craig Short changed the Oxford formation which lead to a lot more of the play going through the centre of the pitch rather than down the flanks. This was countered with McKenna taking off Philogene for Young and further reducing the width to close down the Oxford no 12 who had started to cause a few issues after being brought on.

Mostly because the passes Wes needs, which is slightly ahead of him to run onto, didn't happen.
We have to remember Wes is basically playing in a team, with 50% of new players to him. He doesn't have Chaplin pinging balls into the perfect position for Wes's strength, but it will come.

I don't think Burns could be blamed for this. We didn't really attack down his side after he came on, and I am not sure if he received any passes.

There was one point where he covered for Furlong effectively when Oxford were on the break. As 2-1 up it isn't all about scoring goals.

He's had 16 mins plus whatever was added on in both games before this game with basically a year out.

Come on now. McAteer has had chances to impress and has more often than not, failed. I'm assuming McKenna thought those last minutes were best for Burns to get more minutes than to give them to McAteer.

Sometimes subs change things for the best, sometimes the worst. Our subs didn't really work great today.

The subs were to see the game out not to change it.

We saw the game out and I don't recall Oxford creating anything too brilliant after they came on (I think De Kiersmacker's miss was before most of them had come on wasn't it?)

We chose not to play the ball to him a couple of times then when we did whoever made the pass under hit it or over hit it, I think he only received 1 decent pass...
