It placed Pat Godbold 15th with 335.

What a woman.

I am sure made more appearances than that. Probably more than Mick Mills (I trust AI did at least give him top spot!)

If ChatGPT told me the time, I would check my watch and call the speaking clock.

Ha, I use AI a lot and I do mean a lot, not just ChatGPT, a few others. ( Try Perplexity AI if you're interested ). The thing with prompts is, the more precise and detailed they are, the better, and if you don't like the first answer try again and again. It probably didn't actually realise you were talking about players only unless you mentioned it, so you may find the tea lady lower down the list! I have done something with AI about counteracting the " Low Block ", thought of turning it into a blog or just maybe a post. Might interest or annoy people in equal measure!

Why don’t you write something original without the use of generative AI?

100x this. I have a friend who’s started a sports blog and it’s the most formulaic ai-slop horror show you will ever see. Unoriginal thoughts and no talent is seemingly the future.

How embarrassing- out sourcing thinking and presenting a Frankenstein slop mix of other people’s work, poorly amalgamated and claiming it as their own.

People who use generative AI and think it makes them creative should be roundly mocked.

Either put the requisite effort in to create something original or don’t bother.

I get the annoyance, but the idea that most human writing is genuinely “original” doesn’t really stack up. Nearly everything people write is shaped by what they’ve read, been taught, or picked up over time. We’re all working with second-hand ideas to some extent, just filtered through our own experience and understanding.

Used properly, generative AI isn’t about outsourcing thinking. It’s a tool. With the right prompts and a bit of care, it can pull together different viewpoints, highlight angles you might not have considered, and help organise thoughts more clearly. In some cases, that can actually lead to a broader and more balanced take than one person relying only on what they happen to know.

The real issue is lazy use. Copying and pasting AI output without checking facts, tone, or whether it even makes sense is no different from lifting chunks from articles or Wikipedia. The thinking and judgement still have to come from the person using it.

Creativity has never meant starting from nothing. It’s about how ideas are understood, questioned, and reshaped. AI doesn’t change that, it just makes it more obvious when someone hasn’t bothered to do the work.

Honking take that ignores the blatant issues with AI, one you’ll struggle to find a credible creative agree with you on.

Enjoy your world of slop.

Honking? Why the edit from embarrassing?

You have obviously misunderstood my post, as it clearly makes reference to the issues with AI and how it should be used but never mind, I'll let you wallow in your misconceptions.

Because I’d used embarrassing in the previous post and didn’t want to repeat myself.

I’ve not misunderstood anything.

It’s a vast plagiarism machine that makes statistical guesses as to the next string of characters it should spit out. Despite having no concept of correct or incorrect (or any concept of anything), its programmers present this output as true.

There is no “correct” way to use ChatGPT or its ilk. Any right-minded person should never use it.

That’s not to mention how it provably reduces cognitive effort/brain activation and leads to weakening your neural connectivity, effecting the quality of people’s critical thinking skills.
It’s a cognitive offloading- one that isn’t just damaging individuals, but the environment too…

People using generative AI in the way described in this thread puts a huge strain on resources due to it’s massive energy consumption, then there’s the increased carbon emissions, masses of water being used and vast e-waste due to the inefficient processes inherent within all generative AI.

There are no positives to generative AI use- it’s making people more stupid and increasing the damage to the planet at an alarming rate- it’s also making some of the worlds least creative people believe that they are now creatives, just because they can plonk a command into a text box.

Vapid and insidious garbage slop.
