| Portsmouth pitch… 09:11 - Jan 3 with 3195 views | ITFC_Forever | …with temperatures due to drop to -3 in Pompey tonight, and given the length of Portsmouth’s injury list, I wonder if they might not try too hard to defrost the pitch tomorrow morning? | |

And if they have any under soil heating ….’ooops, sorry, accidentally dropped a spanner in the works’. Oh well, what’ll be will be.

Was the pitch provided by Johnny Lewis then?

A bit like us, then we had that New Years Day Watford game called off, although if I remember correctly the ref seemed determined to call it off.

I seem to remember that both teams thought that the pitch was perfectly playable but that the ref just didn’t want the game to go ahead. But presumably if both teams thought it playable the ref had to justify his decision in some sort of report?

Think it was one area of the pitch the ref was unhappy with but didn't give any time for that to be looked at. Whether it would have been similar to the match against Middlesbrough a year later where it started to freeze over again through the match and was abandonded we will never know.

Alan Ferguson was adamant he would have got the game on had he been given the opportunity, but the referee didn't give him the half an hour he would have needed. As you say, one area of the pitch by the Cobbold Stand.
