Although having said that, -3 isn’t horrendously low… although they don’t have undersoil heating, simple frost covers should do the trick. | |

I seem to remember that both teams thought that the pitch was perfectly playable but that the ref just didn’t want the game to go ahead.
But presumably if both teams thought it playable the ref had to justify his decision in some sort of report? |  | | |

Think it was one area of the pitch the ref was unhappy with but didn't give any time for that to be looked at. Whether it would have been similar to the match against Middlesbrough a year later where it started to freeze over again through the match and was abandonded we will never know. | | | |

Alan Ferguson was adamant he would have got the game on had he been given the opportunity, but the referee didn't give him the half an hour he would have needed. As you say, one area of the pitch by the Cobbold Stand. |  | | |
