Keeps the Epstein files out of the news I guess.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

There are rumblings of Chinese influence, certainly there were plans for arms delivery to Venezuala, plus possible strategic missile sites in preparation before the event of the China invasion of Taiwan. Trump doesnt want China anywhere near the US coast. It's not all about oil and drug cartels.

Because like Venezuela they side with the Russians and Trump does not like anyone close to the USofA who sides with the opposition.

Remember the Cuban missile crisis.

Simple: might is right. It’s all that matters. If somebody has something you want or you don’t like the look of ‘em, you take it and them. Give me a reason in Trump-world why you shouldn’t?

A, Because he can do it with little inpunity.

B, the USA historically has always had a 'thing' about Cuba.

C, Cuba is weak and it's allies can't help it out as they could before.

D, Jared Kushner can develop it's real estate keeping things in the Trump family sphere.

Cuba has been a thorn in various US Presidents sides for a long time.

If he gets rid of the Communist regime and replaces it with democracy then he’ll think of himself as the greatest ever US President - or there’s shedload of cash to be made there. And, who will really fight for Cuba?

Only when he’s talking about the balance of power in Eastern Europe/west Asia. He wants a strong(ish) Russia to keep the EU in check, so that ultimately no power becomes dominant enough that it can challenge the US. The fact that nobody in Europe is in the slightest bit interested in conquering the US won’t occur to him, because he only thinks like a bully.

That’s my simplistic take on it anyway. There is a strategy behind it all, even if that strategy is based on a code lacking morality and decency. His National Security Strategy makes for fascinating, if scary reading. A quick overview here if you haven’t seen it - https://www.thenerve.news/p/us-national-security-strategy-trump-venezuela-greenl

If Trump gets a democracy in place in Cuba wouldn't that be the greatest of ironies?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Wont happen.

Lets bear in mind that amidst all of the excuses and comments he and his folks have made on Venezuela, not one of them mentioned democracy, and no one is even hinting at elections.

Apparently they’re not in the right place for elections at the moment.

Scary thing is that this sort of stuff is making him bolder
