Yes, but - even if you added up all of WMP’s benefits from using Co-Pilot to date, I doubt it outweighs what is (presumably) going to be the resignation of its Chief Constable? Is a system that ‘deliberately’ places an error inside your work better than just doing it yourself? [10 marks / 5,000 words]

Based on the other evidence to hand, it still feels like a broadly correct decision. It's just the fact that the justification used by WMP was incorrect, and based on false information. It doesn't change the fact that the events in Amsterdam and Tel Aviv still happened, and that, by all accounts, a good chunk of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans are incredibly unpleasant people.

WMP were under pressure from local extremists. They withheld intelligence that suggested extremists in the local area were going to arm themselves and attack the Maccabi fans, they lied about a report that had come from the Amsterdam Police saying that Maccabi fans were linked to the IDF and went on a rampage attacking mUslims, when in fact the Dutch report actually said there was an organised "Jew Hunt" by some of the local muslim population, and they manufactured a game that Maccabi had supposedly played against West Ham and caused trouble at, a game that has now been proven never to have taken place. I'm amazed that the Chief Constale is still in place.

it does respond to your dishonesty point. it's a case of people choosing to believe ai without question because it fitted an agenda they were already committed to. they had reached a decision 'regardless of any evidence' and were searching around to justify that decision and luckily ai obliged.

Then when asked was it the AI search within Google, he again replied I'm told it was Google. He even said AI isnt approved for use by WM police. When I was watching it all I was thinking was, here is an individual who doesn't understand the difference and this is a load of brown stuff heading fast towards a fan. | The Cops & a Co-Pilot C*ck-Up! on 13:56 - Jan 14 with 504 views | Swansea_Blue | I’m staggered anyone would use AI search results in a professional capacity without checking accuracy. Google AI constantly turns out utter bollox. There are going to be plenty more examples of this at all levels. In a way, it’s good that this happened in a high profile issue as it shines more of a spotlight on something Thea’s going to become widespread unless we do something about it.

But also someone who was clearly far removed from the (likely) single individual who produced the report. Accountability is a funny old game.

She’s scathing, but can’t do anything about it as the Cameron’s government removed the power of the Govt to sack a Chief Constable. (Although there’s a possible loop hole that may let her compel the Crime Commissioner to sack him, apparently). He sounds like a dead man walking.

Much like football - will be some mutual parting of the ways, that allows Mahmood to look tough / protective, and the CC to keep his pay-off and pension. Untenable now, just a formality.

Reminds me of the evidence of a senior SYP to the Warrington inquests where he compared the level of policing at football to a Rugby league game he policed with only 12 officers. He smugly answered questions from his lawyer as part of the "football fans are hooligans" narrative. A day later he had to apologise to the coroner for misleading the court after it was pointed out the match he referred to didn't take place. Did rather demonstrate how SYP had a rather loose relationship with the truth. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-en Edit. And the source for tipping off the court that the guy had lied, a Hillsborough survivor (won't name him) who was quite forensic in his research. [Post edited 14 Jan 17:44]
