| What a difference a month makes 13:06 - Jan 19 with 1689 views | Dubtractor | About a month ago there were several posts on here lamenting the lack of connection between the current squad and the fanbase, at its most daft suggesting that the squad just weren't that likeable. Now we're seeing player of the year discussion based entirely around new players, alive in for Furlong's application of the dark arts, and a general feel good factor about the team. Its almost as though all that really matters is winning games...... | |

| What a difference a month makes on 13:12 - Jan 19 with 1305 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | There’s that, and also the consistency of team selection has helped. Not knowing who was our first choice right back, or number 10 for example didn’t help. The first team picks itself now and therefore there’s more familiarity. Nunez as an example was largely a squad player at the start of the season and looked average at best. He’s now one of the first names on the teamsheet and one of the best creative players in the league. So I agree winning is a big part of it but also players being there week in week out and turning in performances has helped l! | | | |

I was in SAR Upper Saturday rather than my usual spot in A Block & the post match “celebrations” felt very subdued still, things like Kipre not wanting to do the fist bump etc. I think it’s that everything this time around feels a bit more routine & we’re not getting the thrill of the 3-2, 4-3 games we had in 23/24. That & the sense of expectation that is now upon us…

Agreed on that, still doesn’t feel properly connected at the end of the game but then it is a different scenario altogether compared to last time round and I’m pretty sure as the season goes on and the wins get even more important we will hopefully see more emotion. I was hoping for a Kipre fisting but yes a bit annoying to see him turn it down aha but I guess not all players like the ‘limelight’ in that way?

Some of that probably comes from being the favourites to go up, vs last time when we were the underdogs from L1? Those players in 23/24 were trying to get to a level of football they'd never experienced (for the main), but this time we have a different quality of player too?

The thing is, that 23/24 season was insane, we'll never see anything like that again, and I think people (not you) need to park that and just enjoy this season in its own right.

A Kipre fisting. Haven’t had one of those yet, I do like a Nunez fisting though, plus he’s getting better at them. Also had a Matusiwa fisting this season. Burns winning fisting of the season so far, what scenes were had up in Coventry.

Nunez fisting technique has improved, but still a bit wishy washy. I reckon Kipre would deliver a top tier fist, perhaps he doesn't want to embarrass his team mates?

Yeah he was a bit limp to begin with, but then befitting of the occasion, save the powerful ones for when it means more and he has got slightly more powerful of late. Cor da hell I reckon Kipre would pull his shoulder out with the power he’d put in.

| What a difference a month makes on 13:48 - Jan 19 with 1011 views | bazza | Be nice to hear some super Kieron McKenna and a few songs for the players. I still stick with what I said a few months ago, there’s a lack of connection still. The crowd were better Saturday, but even if it’s inserting new players names in old songs, there needs to be more singing from the crowd, towards the players. If that makes sense. | | | |
| What a difference a month makes on 13:49 - Jan 19 with 990 views | waveneyblue | There's still plenty of negativity on the socials, only today a post on Facebook from one particular clown who has "never really been a fan of Leif" Another rating Azon as "looking like he has won a prize" and my particular favourite was a post mid game suggesting that Hirst is "the worst striker to ever play for us" Then there's Tractor Clown, who I know loves a shout out from TWTD Thankfully apart from one or two more "colourful" posters, its calmed down a lot on here, but I am sure they will be back as soon as we lose again. I guess its because it isn't "as good" as the previous season in the Championship - which sadly, will never be replicated again (or hopefully - as the decades of dross would also need a comeback) Been a really weird season - and still loads left. | | | |

Yes, we have better quality players, mostly and the terrific 22-24 team certainly over achieved. Lucky us witnessing that. But that’s not for was then. For me, watching them play now I see plenty of emotion and characters. So Kipre doesn’t want to do the fist pump - so what? That sort of thing isn’t everybody’s cup of tea and if I was 100 years younger and a professional footballer, it wouldn’t be my thing either. We are all different. The disconnect I’m guessing is because of the money paid for these players (really not their fault), expectation and entitlement. Some people just love to hate and find reasons to criticise. I get there are experts on here that know far more about players and transfers than Ashton and McKenna and they’re always quick to make their expertise on such things known whether it’s odd signings or money paid. I don’t understand it personally but it’s a free country and I guess that’s the point of a forum. Plenty six weeks ago wanted McKenna out. I doubt they’ve changed their mind as we will find out after the next poor performance, draw or loss. I was not one of them. He will be gone soon enough as it is. After decades of dross including the Duncan and Evans periods, we have a really interesting team forming and I’m enjoying watching it. We may fall away this season. That’s sport. We may not but regardless I’ll take it over what we’ve seen here for far too many years since GBs time.

I think that is as much to do with fans than anything else. As fans we are now 'expecting' us to roll teams over...when we don't we aren't happy. Compare that to 23/24 when we were riding the crest of that wave and 'everything' was amazing. Fundamentally, it's all about expectations. It's a bit like a drug....you need that bit more each time. It's why tempering expectations is no bad thing.

I noticed on the highlights loads of empty seats at the end, pretty sad for a 3-0 win.. but even Saturday given the result, it was still flat at times, no party atmosphere, to keep the crowd going . I think shove blue action back in the north in the middle. Try ramp the atmosphere up. We are only good at clapping, something has got to change.

But Hirst is crap, and we will never win anything playing it out from the back, or something. (Christian and Dara playing it back and forth does my nut tbh but wtf do I know!) Every metric points to us really clicking, as does the evidence in front of fans' eyes. Yet still there is moaning leaving the stands, and Mick on RS being highly critical. It's enervating. We won 3-0 ffs. Can we be more clinical? Sure. Can we avoid sloppy passes more? Aye. There's always something to improve on. Otherwise it would be a very odd and essentially dull spectacle.

But it's a low bar. And it went pretty flat for much of the second. It's really annoying. Some fans even stare when me or one of my cronies yells "come on Town" or whatever.

No difference to normal really, they do all the handshakes, like to gather as a group then come over - has been like that the last few seasons. People stream out of all four stands just before and on the whistle.
