I assume the obligation would only be triggered if they got promoted, which is looking incredibly unlikely. If it was appearance/goals based then it's even less likely.
Reality is, he's coming back to Ipswich in the summer and we're not getting any resale value on him.

Agreed. If it's appearance/goal based then I'm sure if they don't want him they'll just do what Aston Villa are doing with Harvey Elliot and not include him in any matchday squad.
