I've been vocal about non promotion being a failure etc, I've stuck to that

BUT, in a flash, this below has honestly changed my mindset on things

An interesting view point. So at least by his metric the 22 years ( or around 20 if you take away the double promotion seasons ) we spent dossing around outside the PL wasn't a failure, I'd say it wasn't a success either. Neither would be not getting promotion at the end of this season, whatever he would say.

It depends whether you have to define everything through either success or failure.

We are a relatively small club in comparison to a lot of others if you consider fan base and location. We are now thriving again and performing in the top 25 teams in England.

I’m happy that the club is in the position it is in, and is so much more stable and progressive than a lot of other clubs.

Sure promotion is one measure of success, but there are so many other factors at the club that a lot of fans seem to not consider.

Promotion is not the be all and end all, but how the club behaves and the way it is now far more integrated back into the Ipswich and Suffolk community means so much more to me compared to where it was even 5 years ago. That to me continues to be the bigger measure of “success” and what is being achieved.

Each to their own though.

We had to rebuild after forgetting how to win.

After losing core players Morsy and Chaplin and Wolfy, skilled players Delap and Hutchinson.

We are on a path now. Losing to blades was a wake up call.

No, totally disagree with this sorry. Youve got to take your chances and make hay while the sun shines. Sun has shone on other clubs in the past 22 years and theyve made their fair share of hay, Ipswich now have their window to do the same before the sun moves on again.

Though I suspect even John would have gone “They’re taking the pee!” had he been watching us under Keane/Jewell/Hurst/Lambert/Cook….

You do indeed. But that doesn't mean not being the best the rest of the time is failure does it.
