Handballs 17:23 - Jan 31 with 1910 viewsgrow_our_own

All three looked stonewall to me. Wild appeals from us ignored.

Arms in unnatural position in all three. VAR gives us at least one more pen.
Last two came after PNE's BS "double-tap" theory. Wonder how much this gaslit the ref into refusing to give pens. He was atrocious.

I thought Clarke getting hacked down before those was even more of a stonewaller than the first pen too! I did only get one look at it, though.

There’s no way we shouldn’t have been awarded at least one more pen but Kipre has to score as well.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Kipre missed 2 sitters as did Hirst, plus he somehow managed to miss the header in our box which led to their goal.

We play with no tempo and are so poor against a low block

At times it looked like we were waiting for them to reset.

Not sure the double touch is BS, Mike Dean watching in Soccer Saturday studio thinks it was double touch and as he scored should be re-taken.

Unlike Kipre to miss a header. Wonder how much he's been spooked by nearly receiving a broken neck courtesy of Femi Seriki's elbow last week. Not even a booking according to the wonderful Championship referees we've been blessed with lately.

Yep, he was shoved from behind very clearly. More of a pen than the one that was given, which was also a pen to be fair. Ref was genuinely clueless all game, one of the worst I've seen all season.

Mike Dean, like most refs on telly, talks shyte.

I have seen several replays from different angles and absolutely no suggestion of a double hit.

As for the handballs, all hit from close range at speed. Into the body. Nothing stood out as being a real shout compared to the obvious foul on the edge of the box. But having dived for the first, ref was never going to give clarke a second in a few minutes.

Forearm and push in the back with no attempt to play the ball, the player in front for him actually doesn’t really make any contact but it’s a clear foul from behind.

First handball is drilled from O’Shea second handball shout looks a Pen.

First one looks quite soft, second looked nailed on. Either way we should have had surely 2 out of the 4 in injury time. Wasn’t there another big handball appeal before the scramble about 10 minutes earlier as well? They’ve survived 4 very decent appeals out of 5.

I’ve seen it back, and while Clarke’s standing foot slips and moves, I don’t think the ball touches it.

Strangely I think it has a chance of being saved if he doesn’t slip. Didn’t see a trouble touch but all those protests probably helped them survive the other appeals.

Foul on Clarke was pretty blatant, its one of those 'anywhere else on the pitch it's a free kick' ones which some referees in their infinite wisdom think are too soft to be a penalty, which is ridiculous, if it's a foul it's a foul. The second handball where Clarke plays the ball looks the most likely to be a handball given that the ball isn't struck hard.

Well yes agreed, I have seen it back a few times and I am struggling to see 2 touches or any change in ball trajectory. I honestly thought it would be pretty obvious from Dean's reaction to it.

Would that be the conclusion, to re take it? Genuine question as I don’t know the answer, but why wouldn’t a double touch result in a free kick to them?

Because the law changed last summer
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo

I was watching with the Preston commentary on. Was really frustrating that they insisted it was a double touch and that Preston should have been awarded an indirect free kick!

EDIT - sorry the law was 'clarified' rather than changed

I was surprised, I thought it was a free-kick if there was 2 or more touches but as Deano said a re-take I assumed he knows what he's on about but I seen Gringo has confirmed there has been a rule clarification on this.

Especially considering the soft freekicks defenders get from the slightest touch in the back.

Exhibit A: That ridiculous one given by the corner of the Cobbold / SBR stand in the second half.
