Ridiculous fees for pretty much bang average premier league strikers being discussed. 50 million for the Wolves fella, Larsen, Mateta for 60 million though that’s unlikely now due to a medical issue.

But we have a massive financial clout in this league and the recent prem to make it fairly irrelevant. It’s pretty piss poor to not have sorted this some we knew Delap was leaving so long ago.
What we spend is fairly irrelevant but given we’ve broke the division record on a young kid who’s not a winger to play him there, those who are defending everything that happens aren’t looking too clever.
Promotion is worth far more than what we would be spending anyway too. |  |

Not sure why they keep being mentioned, larsen scored 14 goals in the prem last season, that's why he's being purchased for. Mateta 14 and 8 in the prem. Both top of the hold up table this season. But yes we also know Jan window throws up crazy money
But we are pushing for promotion, we've spent silly money ourselves on players, so would a crazy £15.£18 mill bid for example be out of place for Vipotnik ( example ) when we've been happy to throw out £20's on wingers etc. |  |

Non of us on a football forum are privy to what has been going on behind the scenes to secure a deal involving a striker. There are a lot of why’s and where fores, salaries, character, the price, do the targets want to come here etc etc.
At the end of the day, it’s not our money being spent either…..so my point stands, perspective needed. | |

Can you provide some links perhaps because I don't think I said that, certainly not in those terms? I'm not sure he's brilliantly suited as a 9 in our system but as third choice cover and completion as a 10 he seemed a decent enough option at the time. [Post edited 2 Feb 19:42]

I just think he's not really a good fit for us if I'm honest. At the time he seemed like decent cover/competition in the forward areas but I've seen nothing to suggest he works well as a 10 for us and I don't think he'd be great up top either. Not averse to giving it a try but I'm unconvinced by him. Bit like Szmodics he has been more effective in his career playing high up alongside another CF. Szmodics is a bit different as he played more as a false 9 with CFs either side of him but neither really fit our system well. | |

We have tried and been rebuffed Piroe didn’t want to drop down, Surridge got a huge offer to stay in US, Bamford opted not to move due to personal reasons, there may be more.
We have enough goals in us, I’m more worried about midfield and am hoping Neil is going to solve that problem |  |
