See Steve McCall and I reckon, his son walking round the back of the Alf Ramsey stand Saturday. Surprised at the amount of Town fans that didn’t recognise him.

....behind me, often next to/near to Adam Tanner.

Everyone mostly ignores him, just the odd hello.

I had a wee next to him a few matches ago. I didn't chat to him before, during or after.

I wondered where he was nowadays

When my parents had the General Gordon back on the day Steve and his wife Julie came to ours over the Christmas period for lunch.

I was only about 11 or 12 maybe at the time , around very early 80’s

Imagine me when I went back to school ….the whole thing blew my mind

An Ipswich Town football player was eating at our table

Yeah true story …..was back then and I doubt it’s very much the same , a real gentleman

Flashback - he actually gave me one of his old England U21 shirts as well ….which I lost over the years

I often see him and others and just let them be.

To be honest anybody under age of 40 aren’t going to have a clue who he is.

Back in late 80s when I was 15 my dad spotted the late Robin Turner walking by our house who stopped and had a nice chat with us. I was quite a knowledgeable supporter by then but I have to admit I didn't know who he was.

Steve lives on the outskirts of Woodbridge, a regular frequenter of our excellent hostelries for Sunday lunch with his wife and friends.

Very nice chap. I am led to believe he has his own business as a highly competent handyman.

He was sat a few rows behind us at Spurs away last season but no one seemed to recognise him apart from my friends and me

Then again we are of that vintage.

I'm just a little bit curious how you and the OP know that no one else recognises him.

How did you guys react to recognising him that made everyone else aware that you did?

Just looked him up and it says he's now a scout for Carlisle United?

Would be odd to be a scout and a season ticket holder/regular attendee at Ipswich. Not exactly casting his net far and wide, is he?!

I suppose I made an assumption on the age of the people around us.
