I see that a post on X regarding the sad passing of a town fan yesterday was hastily deleted when it turned out that the fan had not, in-fact, died.
I’m just trying to get my head around the need (or even compulsion) by some people to post things like that on socials, presumably before the friends and family of the person were even aware.
Thankfully it turns out that the fan who had a medical emergency prior to the game in a popular pub chain yesterday is OK but my goodness, people need to think before they post rubbish on socials. |  |

It’s all about being seen to be in the know or being the first. A cancer of the online culture. A couple of posts on here yesterday were spreading news she’d died. If you were not there then you’re part of the problem spreading unverifiable info.
