Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!
Excellent video, they mentioned it more briefly on the podcast as well.
We had an instance this week of someone going too far when criticising a player. It can happen and is understandable in some ways with people so invested in Town but I think we can agree it's not acceptable.

I'd hope this sort of thing will cut through with a few people, but I doubt it to be honest. The weight of societal norms is too heavy.
The thing that really gets me, as Stuart mentions, is that these are *our* players. We want them to be brilliant and it's crystal clear that abusing them doesn't help one bit.

Dealt with consideration to players and fans alike. Nicely done.
Edit - Quite shocking/depressing to hear that there was abuse under a social media post from the club wishing George a happy birthday. WTF is wrong with some people? People venting during a match is one thing, even then anything personally abusive is not OK. But to do it in 'cold blood' under a birthday message - i really don't undertand some people and why they're such areseholes.
Excellent video and I totally agree with them, apart from when Stuart remarked that it's a difficult discussion to have. In my mind, it's an easy discussion. Assuming that even the most idiotic of the numbskulls that are posting abuse would accept that the abuse will not improve a player's performance, then it follows that there is nothing positive to be achieved. Just stop. At best, it's pointless. At worst, it will destroy that player's confidence and have a severely detrimental effect on the team in general.
In GH's case, it would undoubtedly help him and the team if he is shown support by as many as possible, particularly at the current time.

The thing is the kind of people that do such a thing are sad lonely individuals that only feel good about themselves when putting down others, you see it all over Social Media sadly. I really don't know how you address it on the wider scale, the sort of people that 'bully' on social media to make themselves feel good would never have the courage to do it face to face, so hiding behind social media has given them a platform. Doesn't matter whose player it is or what the occasion social media bullying needs to be addressed on the wider scale, i am just not sure how.

I think one issue for me is that this sort of behaviour occurs at games.
At Millwall, the hostility towards McAteer from a lot of the away fans was palpable, and he must surely have felt it which does him and the team no good at all.

Some people are thick. Others are trolls. There is a big overlap between those two groups.
Excellent video. However, I doubt it will resonate with the people it’s aimed at. Most are too caught up in their own view of what is acceptable, and their right to express their views. How often have we heard the claim that what is said and written never reaches the players, despite all the evidence that it does.
