Returning UK nationals from UAE 12:51 - Mar 2 with 4710 viewsle2blue

See that limited flights have restarted from Abu Dhabi, and mass repatriation is being planned for UK nationals returning from the Middle East. For those tax exiles, I trust that we're deploying HMRC to recover funds. They should also be asked to make social media posts about how grateful they are to be home!

Me neither, largely because of the sterile nature of the newer places (same as Vegas, which I found exceedingly dull and tacky). I’ve not spent much time in the Middle East though, so can’t really comment.

I have spent a bit of time in Abu Dhabi - some of the older architecture is amazing. The Sheikh Zayed mosque is a humbling experience and the old town was well worth getting lost in. Expat compounds and 6 star hotels would just remind me of business trips. I prefer to get lost, dirty and smelly when I’m on holiday!

I absolutely love old Islamic architecture but I imagine that is rather thin on the ground in the places where expats live.

Deira is quite a nice spot in Dubai, old souk and lots of old boats. But it takes about 2 hours to wander round and that's pretty much it aside from plush hotels, restaurants, malls etc.

99% of holiday makers wouldn't go near it sadly.

Poll: Would you support the club introducing safe standing in the North/Churchmans

In Dubai yes, everything is thin on the ground there except Stella and silicon.

AD is quite different though and Oman is another world.

Goes without saying I obviously prefer Dubai...

There is far less, possibly zero, logic in your reply.

At no point is leaving people behind mentioned.
At no point is deciding who to return based on their tax status.

Complete nonsense as per...

It’s morally correct to decide which British people have the right to assistance by the British state whilst overseas during a war in the gulf, based on how much tax they have previously paid.

That is what you and some others are saying. Nonsense from you as per.

If you've got a problem with my posts, highlight them to Phil. I've no problem with what I posted and stand by them.

Feel free to put me on ignore too, that way if you get called up for racist dog whistling again, you won't have to read it.

Enjoy yer day.

I've banned him, just racism as you and others pointed out.

It's populist nonsense that reeks of the politics of envy.

Yeah it has some good tracks on it. Biko, I Don't Remember and Games Without Frontiers being particular standouts.
