Poor ref decisions 09:54 - Mar 14 with 1488 viewsquad

I might not be popular for saying this but I think a lot of people are making too much about the penalties not given for us and poor ref decisions in general. It's shocking, but we need to be focused on what we need to do now, not worrying about what's gone on before. It's gone, we can't change it.

Yes, it's atrocious refereeing. But it's not aimed against Ipswich. They haven't got a vendetta against us.

I watched the Boro game against Charlton. Boro had a stonewall penalty appeal turned down and in a separate incident one of the Charlton players should have been sent off for a shocking tackle and he wasn't.

As far as I've seen nobody on here has mentioned either of those incidents. Maybe the atrocious refereeing does even itself out to some extent if we take the blue tinted specs off, even if we've definitely been dealt a really bad hand just recently.

Totally agree and it is unpopular. The "blubbing" as people call it, on here recently has been OTT.

People seem to forget we get away with stuff too. Other teams don't get decisions as you've said. Its very much a "pity party". I'm guessing it's because it cost us points and it was at the very end of games.
If we won those 2 games anyway, i'm guessing it wouldn't be mentioned much.

Don't get me wrong, both SHOULD have gone in our favour, especially that penalty for Stoke, but these things happen (look at Arsenal's penalty in midweek)

Well that's clearly nonsense. For one thing, poor performances are nothing to do with Ashton. And but for two last min soft pen decisions we could quite easily be sitting on 5 wins from 5. If that's poor performances then bring on another 10!

Performances are separate from results. We were close to five great results but, the reason we didn't get them is twofold - officiating and woeful first halves which put us on the backfoot. We will not get away with even a point if we give the likes of Millwall, Southampton, Middlesbrough and, dare I say it, Norwich a leg up.

The thing which bugs me most is consistency.

Soft challenge from Furlong, free kick to Leicester which they scored from.
Kipre hauled over - nothing.

Azon tugged back, albeit it would have been soft, but nothing given.
Cisse barely touched, goes over, penalty.

In both cases, it's the same referee on the same day showing little to no consistency.

I agree we are at risk of going down the "woe is me" route which, as others have said on the thread, will not be a good thing from a mental perspective.

I think the word Italian says it all. They were the nation that gave football the benefit of their ability to make out they are poleaxed by a gentle nudge. It's a wonder they aren't the world's greatest highboard champs due to how good they are at diving.

It’s not a if a player’s gone in two-footed, studs up though and not got a red, is it?

Oh.
