| Anyone else concerned that Southampton are putting themselves in the mix on 12:51 - Apr 15 by Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | That’s not happening, we need to win our next two games, much more doable. |
We've raised our game before. Coventry home and away for starters. What could tip the balance for Southampton is that they have strikers scoring goals.

| Anyone else concerned that Southampton are putting themselves in the mix on 22:18 - Apr 14 by MrPotatoHead | We might need to work on the assumption they don’t. We need to win our 2 home games and find another on the road somewhere. |
3 more wins/9 more points and we are as good as in 2nd on 84 points. It would require Southampton to win every game left and turn over our GD too. Now they could do that, but not being able to wobble once in 4 games is a big ask especially with the cup semi-final as a distraction, where we could lose twice and still be ok. We need to make sure that game not set up as their playoff final. They’ll win if it is, the 3 before will be what decides if we go up automatically. If they can win to overtake us I’m not going to back us in that scenario unfortunately. I’ve watched enough of them the last 2 months and they’re just the best side in the league by quite some distance at since Feb. I won’t completely write us off if we need a result but it’s all about what we do before we get there. [Post edited 15 Apr 12:58]

Win our next three, it could be a dead rubber by the time we play them.

We need 6 or 7 points before we get there. It looked like 6 last night but even that possibly changed with a 5 goal swing.

They reduced our goal difference from +11 to +6 in just ne game last night. They have a +9 goal difference over us in the last 4 games.

Well yes hence the, what we do before we go there will decide our fate. Even 7 points means they’ll be 4 points behind going into that game (if they win their 2), which essentially means we can lose and beat QPR and finish above them.

I get the GD is a squeaky bum time issue. But assuming we win our next three, we are going to at least be adding to ours. As JJJ says, we need to do enough to have us more than a win ahead of them before 30th April. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How can we possibly have a game in hand ON them if it's AGAINST them. The game in hand if effectively WBA away when they're in the cup semi final.

They have been for weeks now. As long as we avoid defeat against them, then hopefully we will be alright.

Because having a game in hand is a fluid thing? Currently, we have a game in hand on them. By the time we play them, we wont.

Our game in hand over Southampton is against West Brom. It's not possible to have a game in hand over Southampton against Southampton.

Fun fact, by the time we've played all our games, there won't be any games in hand.
