Absolutely insulting pathetic cop out of a statement 17:10 - Mar 24 with 1095 viewsredrickstuhaart

Putting aside that it has taken all day to come up with it.

It says nothing. Explains nothing. Apologises for nothing.

Feck off ITFC. Right now, I feel like I'm done with you.

It’s a disgrace and I hope the pressure ramps up following it.

I’d say I’m 50/50 whether or not I’ll be cancelling my season ticket right now.

It must have had Ashton's blessing.

Which tells us that they kept it as short as possible, because the questions which need answering are ones to which we won't like the answers.

I wonder how our many players from minorities feel about being around the club today?

It's pathetic when the Club has been made to look a total fool and its supporters embarrassed and angered. To think they can get so angry about referees' incompetence and Leif Davis' punishment and so mealy-mouthed about something that affects people far more deeply across the country.

I think the £20,000 they get a week may soften the blow.

They wouldn’t apologise if it was Polanski, Badenoch or Starmer so why would they with Farage (he’s polling top at the moment).

People are letting there political beliefs get in the way of the statement. Just because you hate Farage, doesn’t mean that others do or the club can be seen to be.

They have said they are apolitical which is correct and would work the whole of the political spectrum which is also the correct thing to do! You’re either for democracy and free speech or you’re not, by the sounds of it a lot of this forum isn’t!

What did you want them to do? If you say denounce reform etc, you’re letting your own political beliefs get in the way as they obviously can’t do that! Critically think about it

I’m not surprised by the statement. The horse has already bolted unfortunately. Farage’s brand of division and weaponising racism has been normalised - we see it everywhere. Reform are a genuine party (even if they’re a Ltd company), but their approach is now seen as legitimate too which is the problem. The should still be fringe loons who people are ashamed of - they wouldn’t have been hosted then. So the club are able to hide behind them being just another party, with some justification. They’ve chosen to ignore the fact that Reform have vile views incompatible with our supposed values.

I’m not happy about it and disappointed in the club, but it’s the direction of travel unfortunately. We should have been rejecting this brand of hatred-fuelled politics years ago. There were plenty of warning signs.

There will still be some organisations around with the balls to reject him now, but many won’t. It’ll get worse too nearer to the next GE if Reform are still in a good position as self-interest kicks in and companies start trying to court them for favours later. We’ve all seen how this plays out with MAGA in the US. It’s the same corrupt model.

....apparently, Marcus Nash is in charge.

But most of them will just be minimum wage Ashton slaves, no matter what their job title says.

Not expecting club to denounce Reform UK, who heaven forbid, might form the UK govt in three years' time. But what I do expect the club to unequivocally say, is where they stand on bigotry, racism, hate and those that wish to divide us. Club could have left it at that, without mentioning Reform, Farage's visit, or anything else. Could have remained apolitical, and just vowed where they stand on universal rights.

I feel myself detaching from the club today.

Think there is some over reaction going on today. Are some fans now only going to support the team if it aligns to their political views.
To put it on record I can't stand Farage. I think he is a self serving political who nows how to seize attention. The current political system has failed many voters and he has grabbed the chance to gain from it, immigration especially.

Like it or not he may hold some influence after the next election if the present incumbents don't get their acts together.

If this is enough for you to make such a statement, then perhaps you should ITFC a wide birth from now on. Really don't see what the problem is. This is being blown all out of proportion. Not a great thing for the club to agree to, but if it were any of the other parties, would there be such an outcry. I am not a reform supporter, but many millions now are, so perhaps wind your neck in. Much more important things happening around the world right now.
