| One big mistake and thats it? 22:19 - Mar 26 with 1149 views | hunty21 | Amazing how much Ashton has done for this clib and how it seems a balls up in communication and dishonesty leads to people calling on the club to remove the one thing that has brought our club back to life, . Yes the club would live on but I fear we will lose not only our manager but our ethos and ability to attract players and managers . I hope we hear some an interview outlying the details what happened who from the club released an incorrect statement there's so many question that fan are pulling . The team needs us more than ever lets not ruin this season by a stupid politician that I couldn't care less about. | | | | |

Our club has been used to promote a fascist. How is this not bad.

I await today's PR disaster. What have the club done today? Melted down Sir Bob's statue to make some commemorative coins with Farage's head as a relief?

His job is to bring the fan base and community together, he has done the opposite and his position is now untenable. Fans paying money for the match day experience (home or away) including young families I dare add having to endure chants from opposition fans that relate to this incident is something he has created and it is just madness, every time I read another article it looks worse. Ashton out. [Post edited 27 Mar 7:11]

Then the club was bought by Gamechanger which brought a massive change in our finances and massive investment from them and others. That is the most crucial factor in changing our fortunes not Ashton or any individual.

Our club has been used to promote a fascist. How is this not bad. Would Ashton have done the same for a communist! This behaviour is why we have a polarised world. In saying that, There should be no place in football for politics and religion. I don't care if Ashton is a Farage supporter, He should not have allowed him to use the club to promote any political party. Ipswich Football club would be dead without support, Ashton has significantly upset the best part of 60% of us. I can't see him staying here very long unless the ownership partners were 100% behind him.

I for one was never praising Ashton since Day One. The only time I thought he did well was the signing of Nunez and trolling the budgies. That’s it. If you trawl my posts pre-Faragegate you’ll see I have received plenty of criticism and downvotes for my comments on Ashton. I personally know of people who have worked with Ashton both in Ipswich and Bristol and none of them had anything good to say about him. Some of my comments prior such as “loves a good talk but goes into hiding when things get tough”, “prioritising making PR a mega entertainment venue instead of focusing on football”, “No Action, Talk Only” were verbatim Thankfully, now the truth is out
| One big mistake and thats it? on 09:42 - Mar 27 with 144 views | Herbivore | It's not just one big mistake though. Inviting Farage to PR, hosting him for lunch, and giving him free merch so he could use Town to promote himself and his party in unforgivable in itself. Farage is a racist grifter. The man has already done a lot of damage to the fabric of our country and he'll continue to do more. Reform are abhorrent. They struggle to go more than a couple of days without one of their councillors or candidates exposing themselves as massive racisrs. But if Ashton had recognised what a huge mistake it was, owned it, apologised, and distanced the club properly from Reform and Farage then the situation could well have been salvaged. To compound things by lying to the fans and local media about the extent of his and other' involvement in the visit shows the lack of integrity and honesty that is needed to lead our club. Couple that with the lack of judgement shown in doing this in the first place, it's not an overreaction to say that Ashton is not fit to head up a club like ITFC. | |

If he has been dishonest, then I fear it will be a bridge too far, regardless of the many good things that he has overseen for the club. On the other hand, if he maintains that the article in the Athletic is inaccurate, then he needs to explain where and how, and do it soon.
