Its already happened. These Elite clubs want "tourists" who will pay over the odds for tickets. When you look at it individually, its a £27 extra on their season tickets. £2 a month roughly? If you can't afford that increase then maybe it's time to give up the season ticket. However, for the club, its equates to £1.5-2m extra a year, which for PL terms, is pittance. Seems a small amount to annoy the majority of the fans over.

I think that the ST waiting list is a step towards trying to introduce some hefty price increases. It serves a good purpose in terms of managing demand etc., but it also feels quite devious/cynical. If you want to consider giving up your ST, either because of circumstances, or because it's too expensive etc., you've now got a very clear and present indication that you won't be getting it back in a hurry. If you give up your ST, you'll be sent to the back of a 6,000 (allegedly) long queue. That will probably factor into people's rationale if price increases causes them to question the value for money being offered.

Oh I don't see many people giving up season tickets and I suppose that is the "problem". The Liverpool fans moaning about this will presumably still renew for the sake of £27. I'm assuming, like us, they have a platform to sell their ticket if they need to, and demand for their tickets will never go down. Even if they give it up, they'll have loads of people who will take it. For us at the moment I think its the same. I've said on previous posts, people won't give up their STs while the resale platform is there and the demand is high for tickets. As you say, if they gave it up, they'd be at the back of the queue.

My season ticket (Standard Adult) works out as £18.26 per match in the Championship or £22.10 per match for the number of games in the PL. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That's pretty much my point. That will be one of cheapest Adult season tickets in the ground (£17.78/£18.26), which is almost exactly the average per fan for last year. I said ~£20, but the calculation I did had it closer to £18. This suggests a demographic with many under 23s and other concessions, given the much higher figure for Adult season and match day tickets in the majority of the blocks.
