Those we rely on Clarke Philogene Matisuwa OShea Nunez/Mehmeti Davis Furlong maybe. Wes Do they carry the rest of the squad?

Squad is desperately short at right-10. McKennaball relies on all three 10s firing, and this season we've usually been one short. That's the first position to upgrade in the summer. Closely followed by a box-to-box CM next to Matusiwa, and striker.
| This talk of our fabulous squad/strength in depth on 22:12 - Apr 14 with 770 views | itfcsuth | It’s not a good squad, it’s an incredibly unbalanced one. Far too many individuals, not enough team. Far more flash than fight. | | | |

Our right hand sign has been a problem all season because Furlong is so one dimensional and ultimately Egeli and Mcateer are not very good. If we go up this season Ashton has got away with pretty shambolic recruitment because we just haven’t spent well at all this year,

Neil has been a big disappointment after his initial promising cameo.

If we were relying on 1 or 2 players then yes, I'd agree. But we're not. Positions so far where we've performed well with backups include: LB LCB LCM LW ACM RW CF (although both could be better)

100% this. McAteer was getting pelters earlier in the season for Furlong's indecision and slow play on the ball. If we go up we need an nearly completely new team.

Yep it is scary how underwhelming our recruitment this summer was. Significant funds on Egeli and Mcateer who are just not very good bless em. Neither through the lack of trying but they are so far from top championship players. I do agree to an extent that both those wingers have been hampered a bit by having a right back who looks like a fish out of water when he crosses the halfway line. [Post edited 14 Apr 23:49]

We made all those subs and somehow ended up with Chuba Akpom in a deep role, George Hirst running on fumes, Egeli on the right, DOS at RB and Johnson at LB. That’s after we’d just seen McAteer, Nunez and Neil have little to no impact. We haven’t suddenly become a bad side since Saturday, but at the same time, we don’t look like a team that would’ve been near the top two in stronger Championship seasons either.

True this 'team' should be way better than the last promo team but as much as that team overachieved this lot are under achieving. I'll be forever grateful they did the double but other than that it's hard to have the same affection for this group for some reason.

Our starting keeper gets injured early in the season, we haven't missed him at all 2. Our £15m centre half was out of form so Kipre came in and held down that place 3. Our top scorer, Philogene, gets injured, Clarke comes in and overtakes him as top scorer 4. Plenty of smaller examples such as Ben Johnson coming in for Leif, Greaves for Kipre, Taylor for Jens etc Not saying there aren't player who have underperformed, but we clearly have strength in depth. Look how much Hackney being out has impacted Boro for example

CF without doubt has been our biggest disappointment and let down. Hurst alone should have double the goals he has considering the chances he gets. With a reliable CF we would have walked the league this year.
