I've been thinking about this, and with the Bournemouth links, I could realistically see McK going this summer. He's done his shift, and promotion woud be a nice way to walk away having taken the club to 3 promotions, and erased much of the pain of the banter era. Add to the equation that a Premier League Ipswich would need a complete squad overhaul; so many of our current squad aren't at that level, and the ones we got in this summer arguably haven't been Championship standard. Would this summer be the right time to create a new chapter? |  |

Harsh but I hardly see why Bournemouth would want McKenna a manager who won one home game all season in the Premiership.

I have a bad feeling that if we go up, and Kieran stays, and we make a bad start to the premier league, the club will part ways with him early.
I think they will do whatever it takes to get 17th this time.
Not quite 4 managers in a season level, but very different to what we are used to.
It will be a sad day, but like others have said, hopefully a long time off yet. |

You're 'relaxed' about the best manager we've had for 25 years, quite possibly the best manager in nearly 40 years, and a manager who could genuinely be up there with Robson and Ramsey with the potential he has, going in the summer?!!!!!!

And we didn't find the PL a challenge just because of 'poot recruitment'. It wasn't actually very poor. It was pretty decent!
The club was in the PL despite being 20 years behind in most areas.

Firstly I never made the comment about being relaxed reference McKenna.
But when you mention he has been the best manager in the last 20 yrs so he should be with the money behind him from players, Staff to the training ground.

I do wonder tho if km will be end up being a stable prem manager when he cant seem to figure out how to effectively overcome a low block with ease
Its been an issue for him all through the seasons. With the pace of the prem and the ability of sides to basically do both a job attacking but getting themselves into being a low block.. how is km going to overcome that.

I would only want him to leave us if he thinks it is the right time for him to make the next step in his career, not because we would want him to depart, that alone would be utter madness.
If he thinks he is still very much building a major project here, then I would love nothing more than KMc to stay with us for a very long time.
Whatever the situation, hope it is decided early in the summer, because I would suspect there is a lot of other work to be done this summer. |  | | |

Yes, he can go. Don’t think anyone will want him though. He just isn’t good enough. You look at Bournemouths forum. They have a pole up for a new manager, no one wants to touch him with a barge pole. No pedigree in the Prem. One win all season at home was pretty diabolical. |
A bit extreme to have erected a pole for the new manager even before they have appointed one. Definitely one for McKenna to avoid in that case! |  |

Interesting last sentence, I think the last part might become true in time. As for the first part, I'm having a guess that you're too young to have seen any of our teams pre around early 1980's. Styles of football compared to this season, chalk and cheese. Not talking about quality, just the style of football. |  | | |

Yes but would prefer he stays. No one should be under any allusions, KMck leaving would be an exceptionally high risk moment for the club, sure there is the chance the club quickly refinds its feet and goes on and on upwards, however that has not been the case when most the most successful managers of the club have parted ways, nor the experience of most other clubs after big earas.
The good news is there have been lots of good coaches picked up by clubs in recent years, young coaches seem to be coming through but often clubs have to go through two or three failures or mini revolutions which really sets you back and brings more short term pain (and cost).
