Mehmeti 17:15 - Apr 19 with 2531 viewsportmanking

Desperately struggling to see what others see in him. Awfully slow. And even more selfish. A dreadful fit for McKenna's #10 when he's never prepared to see the bigger picture and play in better placed teammates. He's not for me, Jeff.

Haven't been impressed with him or Nunez.

Too greedy when a simple pass would put others in.

He is currently a little lightweight. And is being compared to impact Nunez gives us. Needs more time to gel with the team. There is a skillful player with a brain. I don’t see him as
Slow. I think his stature and overall impact looks a little off. McKenna does improve players, so confident a better player will emerge.

I remember being quite impressed with him in his first few appearances, but I agree since then his performances have really tailed off, and I can't put my finger on why.

I think they have tailed off because Nunez and Philogene have become available again

He has talent but you would question whether he has the mobility for the PL certainly, not that we need to worry about that currently

Still think we needed a striker. Needed one in the summer. Needed one in January.

It does seem to be a blindspot for McKenna, Man U had s similar problem when he was first team coach which worries me

Philogene and Clarke on paper are better than Broadhead.
Nunez and Mehmeti on paper are better than Chaplin.

But are they better in McKenna's system. Are they fulfiling the role we require? Or does our attack look disconnected and confused too often?

And didn't teams adapt to us in 2023/24? It just feels there's a degree of desperation in playing down endeavours of the double promotion team to build up the current squad.

McKenna's system has evolved also, we aren't really playing as quickly or as cavelierly, it feels like there's some attempt to develop a more PL ready system for when we are back there. A more patient and controlled approach?

I don't think we've really faced a low block in the last three games. Against Norwich we fought hard though struggled in possession. Against Portsmouth we didn't turn up. Against Boro we played well in the first half, ok in the second until they scored, then collapsed.

For the next two games, I can see Charlton and West Brom trying low blocks against us.

I thought Boro did actually go low at times, which worked to some extent albeit got away with some absolutely suicidal defending, in some cased more through luck than judgement
