As i said earlier, reading some of the comments on here, you would honestly think weve just lost 3 on the bounce and could possibly not make the playoffs.
Whilst I fully get that we have thrown in the odd terrible performance and more often a really poor half, however we are now 3 points away from returning to the Premier League at first time of asking.
All I can think of are the umpteen seasons in the Championship, where a play off push was fanciful let alone automatic promotion.
Again I get that was then and this is now, but some of the comments are ludicrous for where we find ourselves.
Maybe I am a "happy clapper" (although Im still yet to read a sensible definition of what that is), have low standards and easily pleased.
But to me, in my 40 odd years of religiously following town, things have never been better.

It’s been a season shaped by two main factors: the weight of expectation, and Coventry’s blistering start which has meant we’ve been playing catch up literally all season. It’s been weird; missed so so many good chances (but are third highest scorers), given away so many daft goals (but have second best defence). We’ve spent a lot of money but a lot of that investment (egeli, Akpom, Cajuste, mostly warm the bench.

I'm as annoyed as anyone that we didn't find that striker, but let's not try and make out it's as easy as you're suggesting by claiming there's thousands of leagues to pick from. |
We had 6 months of a head start knowing
1 that we werent staying up
2 we were gonna lose delap
To get azon and be told by people oh its a tough position there wasnt anyone else available is imo trying to defend the indefensible.
And of course im not saying we should have looked at every single league in the football world. But it can not be serious that we only got azon because the position we wanted to fill was a difficult one. |  |

You replied to my reply to waveney who had said that because our role was basically bespoke there werent many options out there. Thats why i said the bit about a thousand leagues out there in the world.
If we ignored it was town for a sec and we were talking of a club who'd obtained over 80 mill in sales. Had a lot of psr room and they replaced delap with a non goal scoring striker who the club didnt want to risk buying as they werent sure on him youd think they were mad. But because its town its apparently just because its a difficult position to fill.
Btw I wasnt be directive in your direction as such it was more of a general reply if ive explained that correctly. | |

You've just repeated everything with different words.
I'm not saying it's impossible and we couldn't have done better - we definitely should have done. It's just the hyperbole that does my nut in!
Anyway, let's hope we get a couple of decent strikers for next season. And I hope we're looking in maybe 4 or 5 leagues tops for them! | |

Playings Devils advocate- who is the striker we didnt buy.
The "striker" in McKennas team, is a very bespoke role and Im not sure that there's loads of options out there.
But the flip side is that both Hirst and Azon have missed a lot of chances this season. |
That's the job of the recruitment team.

There are only 4 or 5 leagues where the players would be good enough to be strikers at Prem level. This is the thing you fundamentally misunderstand (and why you said there are thousands of leagues to choose from). Over the years theres been strikers from various leagues that have been solid prem additions.
However the discussion we were having was how we didnt find another striker better than hirst or azon for THIS season. Theres strikers in this division from various leagues and countries. | |
