Look at the form table for the last 6 games and, apart from Charlton, all the teams are in promotion form. Town haven't had an easy run in at all. I'm going to Southampton on Tuesday and I hate to say I'd take a draw, as that's what a previous manager would always say, but it would be a good result.

There's rarely an easy game in the Championship anyway, but it's a very difficult run in and we have come up against so many teams at the wrong time in terms of their recent form. Yet we've still got to this point with our destiny in our own hands. If we can get the job done Tuesday then great, if not, we have another chance next week back at Portman Road.

A lot of fans of other clubs on social media were quick to point out that we had a really difficult April. We come out of that month knowing that we go into the final game of the season with our destiny in our own hands. I would have taken that 4 weeks ago. I just hope the players can summon the energy for one final push

I would have taken that at any point this season, as it feels like we've been playing catch up ever since the opening day. Even after Norwich, although we were 2nd with 2 games in hand I was concerned that we still had 4 tough away fixtures and expected Millwall/Saints/Boro to win all their remaining matches. Fortunately these teams have each dropped 2 points.

This is a fair point. We've played form teams, and teams that are riding high in the table. The fact that these two groups of teams are different probably reinforces the idea that the Champ is pretty tight this year, which maybe supports an argument that 'easy run in' versus 'hard run in' might not be a valid distinction. Either way, it could have gone a lot worse. We've only won one in four, and yet somehow we only need one more win. Happy days.

This time last week, we needed to win 3 from 4 (3 of which were away games) to be mathematically certain of promotion. After Tuesday night it was 2 from 3 Now it is 1 from 2. By hook or by crook our odds have improved each week.

My only concern is that we must be running on fumes at the moment, as are Southampton.

It's an odd situation because a draw makes very little difference to us compared to a loss. It eliminates Southampton from contention but, arguably, we wouldn't want them to have the chance to rest up on final day, just in case the unthinkable happens against QPR. But we'd still need to win next Saturday, which is the position we'd be in with a defeat too. In all likelihood Millwall will beat Oxford. Obviously a win would be huge and almost confirm promotion. Southampton and Middlesbrough would be out of it, and there'd have to be - at least - an eighteen goal swing between us and Millwall, even if we lose to QPR.

> "... a win would ... almost confirm promotion." "Almost"? Just one win from either of our remaining fixtures guarantees promotion.

By the way, I’m not saying we’ve got it easy - there isn’t really an easy day in the Championship, Birmingham, Pompey, Norwich, Charlton, Saints are all tough tasks in different ways. But what I would say, on paper, if we did fail to deliver automatic promotion (I think we will be promoted), with our fixtures, and what we needed to get over the line, we’d only have ourselves to blame.
