IF we get promoted to clarify 21:44 - Apr 26 with 3099 viewshunty21

Will Cajuste and Akpom and Kipre automatically be signed or is there a clause that they needed to have played so many games for it to become mandatory. Just out of curiosity as cant imagine akpom or cajuste will feature much for us next season

The number of people talking about keeping Cajuste on this thread is weird.

Kieran has clearly demonstrated we won’t be doing that.

Poll: Where will we finish this season?

I agree, we could realistically keep Kipre/ Cajuste.

I would however be terrified going into a PL season with Kipre/ Greaves/ DOS as 3/4 CBs.

Kipre has never played in the PL and if we are being honest, he's been solid this season against average Champ strikers without ever looking particularly imperious. Last few games he's looked bang average if we are being honest about it. Look at the chances and yellow card he gave up on the weekend.

If we went up you're trading the likes of Heggebo/ Dike for Isak and Ekitike.

You'd fear for him.

I think Kipre would be an option, we'll no doubt add another though. Baggott is effectively fourth in line at the moment which is probably not where we want to be, let alone if we went up. I could see Kipre being around as that 4th choice, its a really difficult one to recruit for because proven Premier League defenders aren't going to want to be 4th choice with us.

I just can't see Cajuste being in the picture next year. McKenna hasn't seen fit to give him a start for 4 months and he's not been a required option from the bench, when he's even got that close to the pitch.

Kippers is a different case, has been a rotated starting option for much of the season and would be a judgement call. I wouldn't bet on it happening though.

Think we're looking at at least 8 and possibly as many as 12 new faces in the summer.

Sure, but on the evidence of Cajuste's season in the PL, if we were required to sign him it would absolutely not be the end of the world having him as an option.

You are also more likely to carry up to 5 CMs but with CB/ ST you are talking about 4/ 2 or 3 so the impact of a passenger is felt that much more as we found out with Ali last season.

EADT reported that the Al Hamidi signing was an obligation. Does not sound like there was very much wiggle room.

The itfc story suggests clauses, presumably either appearances (he's been injured and missed a lot of the season) or more likely, if Luton promoted (they have outside chance of being in the play-offs)

I think you pay a fee to get out of the obligation or move them on immediately. A lot of exits.

Palmer
Townsend
Kipre
Baggott
Neil
Cajuste
Burns
Chaplin
Ogbene
Szmodics
Azon
Akpom
Young

Clean slate.

This may be controversial but I'd be looking to move on Hirst too. He's shown this season he is bang average at Championship level he is nowhere near the required standard for PL.

Could maybe have some use as a Plan B type battering ram I suppose

yes third striker in the Prem is a dangerous and difficult position to fill. they could either never play or they're one ACL away from playing the last 20 minutes of every game. I think a lot of us would be nervous if that was Hirst.

Apart from the fact he didn't offer most of what a deep-lying CM should be doing ie defensive qualities and any kind of physicality and all-round game. He had a couple of nice tricks. And 1 goal and 1 assist all season. He was an attractive looking player in a losing side.

Poor old Morsy had to deal alone with the dirty work whilst our fans showered Cajuste with praise with a pirouette or dropped shoulder. The bar was seriously lowered last season because it was a miserable experience... and Cajuste benefited.

If Cajuste was every inch a PL player... he'd have been snapped up by a PL team.

But you forget his knee injury, which is long term, and why his Brentford move failed and his Besiktas medical fell through, and why we were in the running for him at all. Because we had to take more risks to buy players who might only be able to contribute 80%,but were cheaper as a result

An established Premier league team dont need to do that. And he didnt fit in the plans of the newly promoted ones.

Hirst is fine as 3rd striker. We aren't going to sign THREE new number 9s (if we go up).

Let's be honest, if we are serious about staying up ( assuming we get there ), none of them are good enough. If we do end up stuck with them then we will need to sell them on or loan them out.

Perfectly fine, as he showed last season as well. Was very good away at both Chelsea & Everton.
